“To be honest, when I heard that they were coming up with a sequel for ‘The Shining’, it did sound like a really misguided idea. On the other hand, Mike Flanagan is at the moment one of the most interesting horror film directors so maybe he could make it work. Unfortunately, even though it did receive Stephen King‘s blessing and had received some decent reviews, it still turned out to be a flop at the box-office. I my opinion a creatively successful horror sequel is about as rare as a morel mushroom in the Kalahari. "First viewing - Feb. 13th I had no interest in Doctor Sleep when it was released, mainly because I hadn't read the book and also because The Shining doesn't really need a sequel.
