Description:
Roland West directs this classic black-and-white drama that's been dubbed America's "first expressionist crime film," an important piece of Hollywood history that garnered Oscar nods for Best Picture, Best Art Direction and Best Actor. Soon after being released from prison, a Prohibition-era mobster (Chester Morris) finds himself wanted by police for the murder of one of their own -- and they'll do just about anything to punch holes in his alibi.
