But this time, on her way to the Emerald City, she discovers a terrible plot by the witch Mombi to conquer Oz with an army of monster green elephants that's she's brewing up. She escapes with the help of Mombi's slave Pumpkinhead, and, together, they try to warn King Scarecrow and her other friends that Mombi is coming, but she finds that her friends haven't quite changed as much as she thought. So it's up to her, Pumpkinhead, and the living carousel horse Woodenhead to find a way to stop Mombi's Green Elephants.

In an attempt to get the broom by using her winged monkeys, but however, one of them named Ozzy forgets to open the gate of the castle where it is being kept (?) which causes a battle. To punish Ozzy, Evilene changes his father into a chicken and puts spells onto the "Champions of Oz" upon retriving the broom. Ozzy steals it and heads to Glinda for help.

"Once Upon a Time" is a mix of the fairy tales Mother Holle and Cinderella. Maria, Bello, and Mr. Bottle are quite happy. However, life changes when a wandering con artist tricks Mr. Bottle into marrying her. Mary has a new stepmother and stepsister, Mary Lou. Meeting a hunter in the woods, Maria falls in love and is given a garnet stone. She awaits being reunited with him. Meanwhile, Mary Lou and her mother hatch a plan to marry the Prince, whom search for a girl with a garnet necklace. The Prince, Mary Lou realizes, was the hunter they had met in the woods and had given Maria the necklace she had tossed down a well. Maria is tricked into retrieving her stone, both girls fall into the well, and they embark on a journey to find Mrs. Holly - the one whom holds the garnet stone and the way home.
