Top 10 Worst Simpsons Episodes

Sort by: Showing 10 items
Decade: Rating: List Type:
In this episode, Maude gets knocked off a racetrack grandstand and dies. That is remotely sad, but who cared about Maude Flanders anyway? And the episode is just bad as Ned has Maude's funeral, begins to lose his faith in God, dates rock singers and everything goes back and forth and is crammed into 24 minutes! Something unfunny is that Homer parks his car in the ambulance zone, which is why they can't recover Maude! That's not funny, that just makes Homer look like a villain. Sure he's irresponsible, but he means well really and to park in an ambulance zone is just pushing it!

Ah, a very boring episode! Marge gets the family together to think of a proper love story, with many of them not succeeding - until Homer tells the story of his relationship with Marge! There's nothing new here! Just old reminders of stories that we should know! And why the hell don't Homer or Marge think of their love story sooner?
filmbuilder's rating:
This is what happens when both Homer and Marge get drunk! Homer is pretty selfish, but to commit crimes and frame his own wife for it, just goes too far! He drives drunk, crashes the car and puts Marge in the driver's seat, causing Marge to be arrested! Eventually he bails her out and tells her the truth, but she forgives him way too quickly. Homer confesses the truth to Marge towards the end of the episode, and she forgives him awfully quickly! There should at least be another episode where Marge forgives Homer the following episode!

Homer gets roasted by the town of Springfield, only for the roast to be interrupted by Kang and Kodos. They come to Earth and threaten everyone, just so they'll get a place at the People's Choice Awards. Pretty nonsensical! The song at the end "They'll Never Stop The Simpsons" is not a bad song, but apologising for the clip show, means they knew the episode sucked and are just saying "F*ck you!"
filmbuilder's rating:
Homer realises he has 3 years to live, and to calm down, the family go to Florida. However Homer accidentally kills the alligator Captain Jack, and the family try to flee! Where this becomes senseless is how does Homer ACTUALLY realise that he'll die in 3 years? Captain Jack is revealed to still be alive, but how did he survive on dry land for that long? How did he know where to go? And if the Simpsons are innocent, why do they get banned from Florida? And finally Kid Rock's guest appearance is probably the Worst. Guest Appearance. Ever!
filmbuilder's rating:
Homer and Marge start working for an old woman, who is later murdered and Homer and Marge are found guilty. Eventually Homer tells the police Marge is innocent and he is to be killed alone! The whole thing turns out to be a game show in the end! That is just a poor solution and this would be better as a mini-episode for a Treehouse of Horror where Homer would actually get an official death sentence and it wouldn't be part of the series' canon! The start of the episode with the Screamapillar is pretty awful! If Homer had been disturbed by fingers scraping down a wall, instead of the Screamapillar, I would rather have listened to that!
filmbuilder's rating:
Homer and Marge tell Bart and Lisa of one of the darkest points of their relationship - the 90's! You'd probably be expecting something which happened between episodes of The Simpsons, but instead this episode changes the history of the Simpsons and shows Marge at Springfield University in the 90's! Obviously the writers didn't watch The Simpsons in the 90's and are pretty idiotic to set a flashback episode then! It's obviously because of the floating timeline, but if flashback episodes had to be this way too, then they're pretty much dated now!
filmbuilder's rating:
Mr Burns pays Homer to pull off pranks and embarrassing things - which leads to a bunch of recycled plots from previous episodes, such as Homer becoming Mr Burns' assistant (Homer the Smithers), the Simpsons in financial trouble (30 Minutes Over Tokyo), Lisa fearing of a soul being sold (Bart Sells His Soul), someone dressing like a baby (Mr Plow) and Homer dressing like Santa (Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire). Even worse, is that while Homer is disguised as a panda, he gets raped by one! That's pretty out of place for The Simpsons and this episode still got a PG rating in the UK! That's f*cking unbelievable!
filmbuilder's rating:
Principal Skinner celebrates 20 years of being a principal before being revealed as a fraud! Yep, this is the one everybody hates and tries not to talk about! The critics hated it, the fans hated it, even Matt Groening hated it! Principal Skinner was a recurring character on a long running show, and his backstory got changed! Well why did Agnes think Armin (Skinner's real name) was her son? Worst of all was the nonsensical ending where the townspeople banish the real Skinner for no reason and the judge says that Armin shall be referred to as Skinner again! Pretty much the "it was just a dream" clichรฉ. Martin Sheen provided the voice for the real Skinner and he does what he can and I don't think he should be blamed for this episode, but what was he thinking?
filmbuilder's rating:
Bart is taken 30 years into the future, where Lisa is the president and is facing troubles. So why is this the worst episode of The Simpsons? Well, 30 years into the future, it is a little sad to see cartoon characters age a lot, but worse than that is that the character designs in the future are just utter creepy! Especially that of Bart and Homer, and why Ralph suddenly has a head of hair? Well I don't want to ask why, this is definitely the episode I want to forget most of The Simpsons!

While it is the best cartoon of all time, it still has some bad episodes of the 550+ episodes written!
