Welsh Artists: Cedric Morris
Sir Cedric Lockwood Morris (1889โ1982) was a Welsh artist, art teacher and distinguished horticulturalist. Born in Swansea, son of a Welsh rugby international, he moved to East Anglia in England, where he founded an important art school, which included among its pupils Lucian Freud. As an artist he is best known for his portraits, decorative flower paintings and landscapes. A lover of wildlife who hated cruelty to animals, in England he had a running feud with a local gamekeeper, until the latter accidentally shot himself.
