I'm in the minority of disliking it, which is fine. I understand that there is something about it that I don't get, that everyone else seems to understand. It's the only Studio Ghibli film that I actively dislike. I just found it so boring. There was nothing that pulled me into its world. I felt like an outsider looking at a pretty picture that only got less and less prettier for every second I had to see it.

It's sweet and beautifully animated, but I found the story and characters to not be as engaging as I hoped for.
Bml93's rating:
It's a lot of what you've come to expect from Studio Ghibli. It's imaginative and pretty to look at. The characters are well-crafted and the story delivers on the emotional spectrum. It's not the best from this studio, but it's well worth a watch.

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)
It's a lovely film. It does run a bit slow a few times, but the attention to detail and imagination in this film is quite spectacular and something to admire. Another thing is how efficiently it treats the playfulness of being a child and how the world looks through the eyes of children. The story loses its track every now and then, but it makes up for that by creating quite a few memorable sequences.
Bml93's rating:
Visually gorgeous, delightfully free of tacked on humor, bizarrely weird, filled with depth and at times strikingly beautiful. This is a film that does many things right and reminds us of why we love Studio Ghibli. It's a very cute film. Yet, it's altered by some issues that keeps it from being among Studio Ghibli's greatest films.
The first and foremost issue is the pacing. At times it feels incredibly slow, which shouldn't be necessary in a film in this genre. There is also the fact that music doesn't suit the film and it feels out of place when it appears.
Bml93's rating:
Howl's Moving Castle is such an imaginative, clever and emotionally rich piece of animation. It's also a film that rewards multipile viewings, as every time I've watched it, I've come to appreciate new things about it, as well as to pick up things I hadn't noticed before. The animation is, as to be expected from Studio Ghibli, absolutely gorgeous. The film is filled with so much imagination, that despite a slightly long running time, the film never runs out of steam and is one that I adore.
Bml93's rating:
Porco Rosso (1992)
I would say that Porco Rosso is a lot more 'mature' than many of the other Studio Ghibli films, but it still comes with all the heart and emotion that you've come to expect Hayao Miyazaki's films. It's also thrillingly exciting and wonderfully subtle in its themes. It's a treat.
Bml93's rating:
Spirited Away (2001)
It's quite simply a magical film and a prime example of a film that truly manages to awe and inspire you with its world. It's simplistic approach to all the weirdness and imagination in it suits it very well. With a well-established emotional connection we get to discover this film and the world of it at the same pace as our main character.
This is one of Studio Ghibli's absolute finest films. One that captures you again and again with its wonderful details.
Bml93's rating:
The best to the worst of movies I've seen from Studio Ghibli.
