These are my top ten favorites in RPG's. And I notice that "purists" may scoff at the some of these, but when I look at an RPG, it's growing a character through a story with a substantial amount of dialog through a conflict. Now when a game allows you to essentially level up a character who's abilities are governed my statistics and there is a good amount of dialog that you have choice over, then I would say that's an RPG.
This is just my favorite RPG's that I love to play and play through multiple times, even after a long period of time of not playing them. The game has to have 1) a very fun and engaging combat system, 2) multiple and enjoyable quests and questlines, and 3) a pretty good story that is not too confusing (hense a lack of JRPG's and more Western sytle RPG's).
