The Romantic Misunderstanding
Every romance film in the past 20 years or so has done this cliche and I AM SICK of it. It's when the romantic lead have a misunderstanding at the beginning of the third act that breaks them up, when we know that they are going to get back together, thus removing all tension and basically brings the movie to a grinding halt.
I swear I'm not kidding, the misunderstanding in this movie lasts for AN ENTIRE YEAR. That is the biggest misunderstanding I've ever seen.

The Disney Death
I borrowed the name from TV Tropes. Basically it's when a main character is presumed dead for a few seconds, and then suddenly miraculously they're alive. I hate this cliche because, especially in kid's films, you know they're not really dead, and thus eliminates all sense of tension.
How did Indy survive that tank falling off the cliff?

Cringe Comedy
A point for all you aspiring filmmakers. Cringe comedy usually isn't funny, in my opinion. It's grating and toe curling.
You Again (2010)
The scene with Tim on stage is toe-curling, mostly because it reminds me a lot of the things my cousin would say.

The Liar Revealed
I did borrow this title from Doug Walker, no need to point it out. It's when a character or characters lie about who they are or what they do, and they become friends or heroes, and then when the truth is revealed, they suddenly don't trust them and tell them to go away. Kills the pacing, and is pointless.
In addition to the third act romantic break-up.

1 Second Left
Whenever there is a bomb it will always stop when there is only one second left. Always. That is the law of movies. It can be done well, but it's especially done horribly when the bad guy puts way too much time on the clock.
Galaxy Quest (1999)
This is more of a parody of this cliche and it is hilarious.
garfield2710's rating:
This is one of the rare times where the use of this cliche is actually good. It builds up the tension and draws it out as long as possible, making you believe for a split second, that they won't pull it off.

The Girl's best friend/boyfriend
A boy and a girl can never be "just friends". It's too complicated, especially if their teens.

Dream/Fantasy Fake Out
Or as I like to call it, the laziest way to show you what's going on in a character's head, or as a poor exposition dump. It's when something is going on, and then it's revealed it was a dream or a fantasy. In worst cases, this scene is never mentioned or brought up again. I am so sick of that stupid device.

The Star-Struck Characters
This is when a character or a group of characters are suddenly being filmed, for some reason, and they act tougher than they normally are, or try to make an impression. It's irritating because it's basically the same joke repeated ad nausea, no variation on it whatsoever, and it wasn't even that funny in the first place.
Here is a list of film cliches that I wish would just die and wither away.
