1984 (1984)
Based on book by George Orwell.
An excellent adaptation shot in the same time frame in 1984 as the novel. Things didn't turn out as badly as Orwell thought they would, at least not by then.

Bicentennial Man (1999)
Based on short story by Isaac Asimov.
Loosely based on the short story. The first half is pretty good but the movie pretty much goes off the rails by the end.

Contact (1997)
Based on book by Carl Sagan.
Great acting by Jodie Foster, unfortunately too much attention was on her character taking it away from the scientific and philosophical aspects explored in the book, which was to the detriment of the movie.

I, Robot (2004)
Based on short story collection by Isaac Asimov.
Bears very little resemblance to anything Asimov wrote even though it shamelessly uses the title.
