A near great movie, the creature is impeccable, the story is not so original but has enough twists to make it interesting. Heartbreaking and disturbing too.

The Last Winter (2006)
Very well photographed, with good acting, story and music. Very eerie finish if you give it a chance, recommended.
The Wolfman (2010)
A much needed update of the dated original. bloody, violent but missed the mark in the gypsy, the one in the original MADE that movie a classic, while Lon Chaney made it a cornball fest. Great effects make this one superior to the original, which is in my view over rated.
mcdean's rating:
this one surprised me, it is extremely well written and filmed. Loads of surprises and genuine scares. Much recommended.
mcdean's rating:
The Strangers (2008)
Genuinely creepy, not the classic it wants to be but very well made.
mcdean's rating:
28 Days Later (2002)
The zombie movie that made zombies scary again. Could have done without the rape scene, but overall very scary and thought provoking (strangely enough).
mcdean's rating:
Sharknado (2013)
Surprisingly effective flick about sharks rampaging with the aid of a tornado! Sit through it and you will jump in your seat more than twice, dumb ending but don't most of these movie suck at the end?
mcdean's rating:
Frankenstein's Army (2013)
Frankenstein is back, and he made many monsters, some absurd but still horrifying. found footage foreign classic (if you can stand the dubbing).
mcdean's rating:
Very realistic found footage movie that has a 9 11 feel about it. this is what makes this movie great!
mcdean's rating:
The Thing (2011)
A prequel with no surprises but some really good acting and effects. You still wonder what will happen next even if you know the outcome, and what leads up to it is well done.
mcdean's rating:
Paranormal Activity (2009)
Minimalism to the max. I found it effective in theater, dull in home video.
mcdean's rating:
The Host (2006)
Very good Korean monster movie. Slimy creature very well done. Godzilla like sub plot. Great effects. Still waiting for the sequel.
mcdean's rating:
The Conjuring (2013)
Great acting, great editing, great story. Happy ending hurts it though, a happy ending hurts ANY horror movie.
mcdean's rating:
Minimalist movie very well done. This HAS to be better than the Stephen King short story.
mcdean's rating:
Sinister (2012)
This is the scariest movie I've seen in years! Will have a much deserved sequel. Great soundtrack, this one will keep you up at night!
mcdean's rating:
Saw (2004)
Very gory and strangely sexual too, as all the Saw movies are. I can't differentiate from them but have seen most and can say they are very scary. there are many imitators but there is only ONE Saw franchise. But be warned this is VERY scary stuff.
mcdean's rating:
Scandinavian found footage tale of yes, a Troll Hunter. Seems like it was filmed in the North West Coast of North America by the scenery, dubbing hurts it. Good story and effects and acting. Surprising ly scary in parts.
mcdean's rating:
This is a horror movie disguised as science fiction, as are all the early Planet of the Apes movies. If the sequel is half as good as this it will get my vote too.
