truly a classic of the whole franchise and the launcher of a whole new series and genre, if you consider yourself a fan (or even if you´re not), this is definitely a must watch.
mrhoundoom's rating:

after a true masterpiece, comes one of the most desappointing of the whole series, its not exciting and even the human sub-plot ends up not being interesting. totally skipable.
mrhoundoom's rating:

whoever got this idea should get a cookie, what can go wrong with godzilla and king kong wrestling at the base of Mount Fuji, i tell you, nothing, also delivers two of the most memorable moments of the franchise, kong flying with balooons, and shoving a tree in godzilla´s throat.

considered one of the best of the franchise and with reason not just the fight between Mothra and Godzilla is surprinsingly cool but the human sub-plot also delivers interesting story.
mrhoundoom's rating:

another classic in the series, mostly because it introduces one of the "biggest" enemys of Godzilla and an amazing fight with Mothra and Rodan Against him, also the beginning of Godzilla´s less "evil" behavior at least until the next series.
mrhoundoom's rating:

once again Ghidora becomes the main enemy, but this time Godzilla and Rodan don´t fight on earth but on Planet X, interesting plot, a little too heavy on the sci-fi (this was done at a time when the space theme was very popular)but still enjoyable.

Also this happens.
mrhoundoom's rating:

one of the weakest, you can clearly see that the movie wasn´t originally planned to part godzilla, instead it was supposed to be King Kong, but they scratched the idea at the "last" minute, making the movie not have the spirit that the others have, Highly skipable.

this is a more silly aproach to the series (get used to that theres more to come) but in my opinion the best of the silly ones, it still has an interesting storyline and also has one of the most heart warming endings ever.

And to think that this was supposed to be the last godzilla movie ever, the franchise really has come a long way, but talking about the movie, this one focuses a lot more on the human plot than the others, at least until the last 20 minutes, which is when all the monsters decide to go all royal rumble on King Ghidora, and proceed to kick the living crap out of him, overall great movie, not a must watch, but great.
mrhoundoom's rating:

this was a poor try to make godzilla more appealing to the younger audience, wich was a horrible idea, because this one can be considered the worst of all the movies, boring, stupid and nothing new to see since they just re-use old footage, also has one of the worst dubs i ever heard in my life, just try to avoid this one at all costs.
mrhoundoom's rating:
People who added this item 120 Average listal rating (76 ratings) 6.2 IMDB Rating 6.1

while the last one was horrible, this one was just weird!, weird imagery all trough the movie, scenes that dont make sense, and this...

But it is still worth watching just for the laughs and the wtf´s.

I have to admit that i am a sucker for this one, mostly due the fact that Gigan is one of my favourite monsters of the series, it is a enjoyable movie, and man! Godzilla takes a beating in this one, but the fact that he and Anguirus are still able to defeat both enemies with the power of friendship! makes them more badass.
mrhoundoom's rating:

This one is preety average at best, but can actually be entertaining when its not being a re-used footage funfest. The plot is preety ridiculous, a race of humans that lives in the earths core decides that they are tired of us partying with nuclear bombs and its too much noise so they send a giant monster to kill us all...douchebag alert!
Redeeming qualities: Godzilla´s suit catches fire...again, you have this guy...

And this happens...

mrhoundoom's rating:

After four kinda weird and out of place movies, Toho decided to put their shit together once more for the final two installments of this first series of movies. On top of feeling like a comeback to the roots of this series with an interesting plot it also brings back some familiar faces of the frachise wich is always nice to see, but the best thing is the introduction of my number 2 spot of best kaiju Mecha-Godzilla
mrhoundoom's rating:

Even though this one still holds itself as a good movie you can clearly see that Toho really needed to give the series a rest (proof to this is that they have been doing the same type of plot for the last "300" movies) but luckily for the last entry they gave the derecting back Ishiro Honda so that Godzilla could go out in style for its 9 year nap (a much deserved one at that).
mrhoundoom's rating:

After a well deserved nine year rest, Godzilla comes back on the form of a reboot, with a bigger budget (wich is interesting to see) and better effects, also marks the return of a much more animalistic Godzilla as it is a direct sequel to the original, and even though he doesn´t fight against any Kaiju in this one, it is still fun to watch Godzilla tearing a city apart once again.

wow what an amazing movie, believe it or not this was my first exposure to Godzilla and what movie to start, i have to admit i forgot how awesome it actually was, interesting plot, Godzilla gets a new badass suit wich is gonna happen more often, and of course, the main event it introduces my favourite Kaiju of all time Biollante!(not counting with Godzilla because, well, he is already the king).
mrhoundoom's rating:

This one is just all over the place, but it is still entertaining and i have to say that it has a interesting plotline, in it we finally get to see the origins of Godzilla himself, he gets a size upgrade, and Ghidora is for once the "good" guy a get an upgrade himself becoming Mecha-Ghidora.

in its basic form this movie is kinda of a remake of the original Godzilla vs Mothra, but instead of puting just Mothra against him it also adds Battra to the equation, making this movie a threesome of giant proportions, also a thing to note is that it is nice to see a new and more manacing version of Mothra that inspired its own spin-off trilogy.

in this one Toho just decided screw the plot and for once lets just make a true action packed monster mayhem, and that exactly what this movie is, this movie marks the return and the revamp of a bunch of other monsters that include baby Godzilla (wich im still not a fan of the design but at least hes not a grey muffin man anymore), Rodan, and Mecha-godzilla wich to be honest i just dont like the design in this one, it just looks too choppy and not manacing at all, but overall good movie and full of fighting wich is always fun to watch.

this is another not very welcomed entry on the series by fans, but i have to admit, even though i recognize that it is a bit forgetable, i still like it quite a bit, maybe its just because im one of the few who likes Space-Godzilla design (also has a badass poster).

so for the last entry of the Heisei series, Toho decided to do something that they didin´t do since the very first movie of the franchise, kill Godzilla! even though the movie is not perfect, and the main anemy while interesting i have to admit that its not my favourite, the movie is still capable to hold itself a good farewell for the King of the monsters giving it a a tru kings goodbye, i have to say i teared up a little at the end of it.

So after the disaster of the american version, Toho probably said to themselfes "you know what, we need to make a new series to fix this" and thats exactly what they did, with a brand new and incredibly badass look, Godzilla came back to kick ass and chew buildings, but since he ran out of building they decided to give right away a foe of epic proportions (so big that he even tries to swallow Godzilla whole)and even though its not the perfect movie it still introduces a interesting looking foe to the "collection", and at the end it is still better than the american version. .

i have to say that i have mixed feelings about this one, while it has decent plot and a good fights, i dont know exactly why but it just feels too predictable, maybe its because we have seen many flying foes (Battra is in my opinion more interesting), but anyways it is still a decent movie and worth watching.
mrhoundoom's rating:

definitely one of my favourites if not my favourite of the franchise, once again ignores the previous ones and is a direct sequel to the original one but this time Godzilla is not the animalistic force of nature that we know instead he represents the revenge of the cursed forgotten souls of Japan's forgotten dead (that is literally it)as a being of pure violence, getting the most scary look to this day, also monsters that we saw previously fighting alongside or against him , are now seen trying to stop him, truly highly recommended.

mrhoundoom's rating:

Mecha godzilla was definitely in need of a "reboot" himself since the last attempt to put him on screen with a new look was kind of a fail, but this one really hits the spot, this is for sure my favourite version of him and also m,y favourite movie that he is in, the plot of his origins is interesting aswell as it is once again a direct sequel of the original.
mrhoundoom's rating:
People who added this item 51 Average listal rating (31 ratings) 6.6 IMDB Rating 6.5

like we have seen before with other mecha-godzilla movies this one is also a sequel to the previous one and in my opinion the best of the series when it comes of balancing the monster and human side of the story, but still not my favourite of the series.

mrhoundoom's rating:

For the final movie of the franchise Toho really decided to go all out war between almost all the monsters that have appeared on the franchise (a little sad that Biollante is not in it but at least i get Gigan)serving at the same tima as an omage to movies like Destroy all Monsters, and even bringing some know stars from previous films, really a fun movie to watch speacially when Godzilla kicks zilla´s ass.

Godzilla (1998)

lets be honest here, as a monster movie the movie could hold itself, barely, but it could, but there is a problem, and that is that the producers and makers of the movie had the arrogance of calling it Godzilla, proving that they just wanted to sell the name while ripping off Jurassic Park at the same time so...

Unfortunaly because of agenda problems i´m gonna be one late watcher of the new Godzilla movie, So to fill my appetite and to make kinda of a late homage to the revival of one of the best franchises ever i took the decision of doing a giant marathon of all the movies of my favourite force of nature, also serving like i said before like an homage to the best monster ever created!

(Idea was inspired by James Rolfe from AVGN).
