Heaven for otakus and ordinary anime/manga fans. Full of places to shop till you drop and if you've had enough of that why not chill out at a maid cafe where you can chat away with some of the cutest young maids around who will magically empower your food/drink.

If Akiba is the premier place for your anime/manga/idol needs then Nakano is the 2nd best place to go. A couple of stops on the Chuo line from Shinjuku, head for Nakano Broadway which is full of shops which includes Mandarake and the Trio stores which has everything for the idol fan.

Home of the famous Shibuya Crossing and the Hachiko statue outside of the train station. The iconic Shibuya 109 shop is also situated here.

Harajuku - where you're likely to catch sight of many lolita goth cosplayers. Take a stroll down Takeshita Dori but beware of the pushy foreign touts that could pester you. The Evangelion store (now moved to Ikebukuro) was a good place to visit although prices on goods were expensive. Kiddy Land is a fantastic toy store as well.
AKB48Fan's rating:
The business district of Tokyo which has the world's busiest train station. Very easy to get lost if you're a first time visitor in the station. Places to visit include the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to get a good birds eye view of the city or Shinjuku Gyoen if you like to chill out at a good park. Shinjuku also has Kabukicho, the red light district of Tokyo where you could see some shady yakuzas around.

This is a big artificial island in Tokyo Bay. Great views to be had at night of Rainbow Bridge. Plenty of things to see and do there. Catch the Gundam robot which is situated outside of the Diver City building, the replica Statue Of Liberty and even visit the Fuji TV building.

The upscale shopping district of Tokyo where the famous fashion houses of the world are located. Go and see the latest technology at the Sony Building or visit the Apple Store.

Fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city atmosphere then head to Todoroki which is on the Oimachi line. Todoroki Canyon is a beautiful place where you can relax or stroll along a small river. You can hardly hear any traffic there. So peaceful.

Although Kichijoji might just seen like another neighbourhood in Tokyo, it is close to the famous Ghibli Museum and it does have the popular Inokashira Park which has a big lake.

Although I'm not a fan of Roppongi itself, I do like strolling around Roppongi Hills especially around the Mori Tower (which has a cool open-air observation deck right at the top). Keyakizaka Street is great around Christmas time when the trees are all decked out in lights. Mori Garden also looks nice at that time of year. The HQ of TV Asahi is located at Roppongi Hills. Check out the Counter Void wall with it's numbers constantly changing.

Most famous for the impressive Senso-ji Temple and the Kaminarimon gate. This is where most foreigners come to buy souveniers on the very long Nakamise Dori. Very close to the Sumida River. Get a good look across the river where you can't miss the tallest structure around - the Tokyo Sky Tree.
