Best TV Dramas of 2011
This list was created by and in the opinion of Stephen H Koontz
This is truly a banner year for television. So many excellent debuts on the list with some of the older shows having their best seasons. Television has been increasing over the last few years and this year tells me it's only going to get better...
Shows that would have likely been on this list had there been a season:
Mad Men

Season 5
Their final season is solid, ending before it got old and desperate. Thank you.
Season 4
Actors and writers at the top of their game. Not their best season but interest remains high.
Season 1
Grammar is bad-ass as the mayor of Chicago. The show has its kinks but there is great potential...
Season 2
A short season, less interesting than the first but the story builds and makes me think it will be worth watching Season 3...
Season 2
A sad season because an obvious hole but still has its no guts no glory mentality and bloody/sandy/shiny finish.
Season 1
This show took me by surprise. It's a little sophomoric in its design but the writing is witty and the acting in its leads sharp. Much potential...
Season 7 (Final Season)
A painful story to watch, for both good and bad reasons, I'm glad this show can lay to rest. To me, this is one of the shows that helped define our modern bad-ass television renaissance.
Season 2
The show has changed into a psychological study and is benefiting from it, as much as I liked Darabont's version more.
Lead characters go down, friendships go down, family is lost, there is so much to gain...
Season 1
A low-budget, no-holds-barred, approach to the horror genre, which actually works really well for TV - Instead watching decreasing-in-quality sequels for six years, we got a huge story in one.
Season 1
This is essentially a 'Twin Peaks' remake in a large city and without out the delightfully weird nuances of Lynch. It's cold and rainy but still brainy.
Season 4
The show is really finding its groove and continues to take risks, add in well-developed characters and what appears to be a Hamlet-like story...
Season 1
I stumbled across this thriller of a show that is everything a network show aims to be but never will be. It's a short season, but each story feels like a movie itself.
Season 3
(Second Half)Season 4
(First Half)Best Episode: Subject 13
This immensely layered show continues to impress with its ability to be witty, intelligent, clever, thrilling, and on network TV.
Season 1
Best Episode: Baelor
The best example of why 2011 is a banner year for television. This is essentially the quality of 'Lord of the Rings' but on television, and about the same length. As great as it was I couldn't help but want more, for good and bad reasons. It will no doubt get a second season and I faith it will improve on the first.
