Hell, Sweet Hell & Circus of Shame

*Sadly, I can't recommend their newest album, 'Astoria'. It's no long psychobilly....or even good for that matter. :(

 FAVORITE ALBUMS:

*Interestingly, these guys have been around this scene since the 80s and they're British. I'm more selective of their songs/albums. Some sound too much 50's rock 'n' roll without the darkness, and others are copies of other artist’s mainstream songs. I tend to not like either. Their real psychobilly is great though, and I've listed my favorite albums with that, although there are select songs from many other albums that are good psychobilly too; 'Psycho For Your Love', 'Chainsaw Boogie' and 'Sick Things' are good examples.

FAVORITE ALBUMS:

Bury Them Deep , Life After Sundown

& Mistress of the Dark

*I almost hesitate to call these guys psychobilly, though that's how they're classed. They have a very "old west" sound (think outlaws and six shooters) to much of their music, but they have a lot of good stuff nevertheless.

*I actually only listen to a very few songs from this album and one other, but this is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

Although I have a huge collection of various types of music (Rock, Hardcore, Metal, Punk, Gothic, Dark Cabaret, Psychobilly, etc..) I decided to make a list of my favorite bands in this genre because it's lesser known, but I feel it deserves a lot more fan fare than it gets.

Psychobilly and Gothabilly are not to be confused with their close relation, Rockabilly. These two have dark lyrics, referencing horror, sci-fi and taboo subjects with humor or a tongue-in-cheek manner. They usually have rock or punk overtones mixed with 50's/rockabilly. Basically it's ghoulish, fun music...that often makes you want to dance.

Just think: Horror, rock n' roll and punk, had a love child = Psychobilly/Gothabilly.
With titles like "Dead Girls Don't Say No", "Zombie Rock" and "Horny in a Hearse", what's not to love? lol

Also, please don't confuse this with normal 'Horror Rock' (which I also love) which includes artists like Rob Zombie, The Misfits, Zombie Girl, Wednesday 13 etc.. Neither is it like various other types of Goth music like Aurelio Voltaire, London After Midnight, Type O Negative, etc.. Love those bands and genres, but they definitely don't go here.

It was often hard to narrow it down so much, but I will list my favorite albums for each band and two songs for you to sample from each.
I may add to this list as I find and become attached to other Psychobilly bands. Stay tuned..
