One of the best sci-fi movies ever. It's not a particularly enjoyable film, but it's smarter and more socially relevant than most movies.

A genuinely unsettling film. The fact that the killer is never found adds layers to the film that most atmospheric mysteries. The direction, writing, and performances are all first-rate.

One of the finest of Burton's later work sees him getting back to his roots with gleefully crazed characters, incredibly dark humor, and a whole lot of blood. Depp gives one of his best performances, and Helena Bonham Carter holds her own. Burton hasn't been this good since.

Everything on display; the acting, directing, cinematography, sets, costumes, etc. is top notch, but I just felt that there was something missing. Still an above-average love story.

A fun, pitch-black comedy features smart writing and great performances.

No Country for Old Men

Goofy little animated movie gets by on it's bright animation and wittiness.

A smart and suspenseful sci-fi movie featuring an amazing performance from Sam Rockwell.

A true blue mindfuck motion picture. Also, a pretty great one.

Often duplicated, never rivaled, this is the definitive underdog story. What makes the movie work is that you genuinely feel it. The characters, setting, and story all feel authentic, truly inspiring the audience.

Possibly the only great movie about the second Iraq war. Bigelow's direction is air-tight, and the script solid. The cast is good here too, with Jeremy Renner giving a breakout turn.

Wonderfully directed and beautifully shot, this is a powerful movie that examines the pains and pleasures of life.

Nothing special, but it's a lot of fun with a cast of veterans having a blast.
