Books read in 2006
I guess I didn't read that much in 2006!
This was my patriotic year.
"A Complicated Kindness" was a pleasant surprise. Very interesting tale about a rebellious and troubled teenager in a Mennonite community in Manitoba. Toews is a very talented writer.
"Jane of Lantern Hill" is one of my classics. I read it for the first time when I was about 10 and it made me dream of Prince Edward Island for years!!!I go through it once in a while.Every time I go to PEI (not as often as I'd like to), I can't help myself from reconciling with my old childish dream: living in a house by the beach, make my own jams and read the Bible by the sea (and I'm an agnostic...!). Thankfully, that whim never lasts very long...
As for "Shopaholic and Sister" it must have been one of the worst chick litt I ever read. The only thing I ask from a book like that is to entertain me - and boy was it boring.
