The Agony and the Ecstasy (1965)
The life and times of Michelangelo. While the production design and scope is impressive, Heston, as Michelangelo, is not.
Stehako's rating:
A series of different stories on a boat in Germany, pre-war time. In a movie that relies entirely on character they got most of it right. Looking at it in a 2020 lens it's a soap opera, but back in the 60's I think it would have been a fresh idea and relevant. What makes a really good movie is one that can defy time, which this doesn't, so a still-good 7 I shall give it.
Stehako's rating:
Lumet directs a risky film about the consequences of the Holocaust back in the US. Rod Steiger pulls off what is perhaps his most impressive performance among an otherwise unimpressive cast.
Stehako's rating:
A pretty fun comedy of errors that builds up to a ridiculous ending

Shelley Winters and Sidney Poitier have great chemistry in this beautiful film about two people who are stereotyped and overcome prejudice just through love and friendship and seeing each other for who they are, not what they are. Ok, doesn't sound real original but it works here, especially for the mid-60s.
