Between both
In this list I put what I thinnk are the best of both sides.
Recently, The Godfather has been chosen the best movie of all times. I've heard some critics in a little controversy about that, giving preference to older movies such as Citizen Kane or deep artistic films such as Persona or Fellini's Otto e mezzo. Well, the thing with art cinema is that it can't reach a number of spectators the way a good story can. Let's be honest, who didn't ask when this is going to end watching the sequence of the psicodelic journey in 2001: A Space Odyssey? Or the one with the car in Solaris? Some critics seem to believe that the best movies most have long sequences with nothing happening. On the other hand, you can do a movie that pleases everyone, the critics and the public, and that's the case of The Godfather and many other movies. You know how pleased both too? Shakespeare.
