The Square (2015)
Very inspirational documentary showcasing a group of Egyptians as they participate in the biggest revolution in their history, it's very brutal, very real and very sad.
The movie is about two parts of the revolution and it took about two years to make, with very low budget and small digital cameras, this is as good as it gets.

A "Documentary" about the co-founders of The Piratebay.se, which is a hosting service for anything, but mainly used to host pirated contents, like movies, porn and music videos.
Now, the reason i quoted the documentary because, it's not so much a documentary as much as a diary into those three guys life, it shows you the battle between them and the big 6 of Hollywood, it's not very well done and had a lot of flaws, and showed too many unnecessary things, like character mistakes, them bashing one another, but it's the only movie about the Pirate Bay guys so i had to watch it anyway.

Very manipulative documentary about Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, although it had the same director (Alex Gibney) who created the masterpiece Taxi to the Dark Side, here he tried to bash Assange as much as possible, he chose very misleading title for his documentary, he made Assange friends turn their back on him, he even officially stated that Wikileaks is dead since the beginning of 2013, which is wrong, because at the beginning of this year, Wikileaks released 4 million secret phone calls, and the worst thing is that Alex Gibney never interviewed Assange, so he made a movie about a person without even interviewing him, that's just stupid.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Scorsese did it again, this time it's a comedy masterpiece, a highly entertaining three hours, combining comedy, Biography, Crime, performances, sex and drugs.
The movie was so good, it charges you with this great energy that make you want to get up and punch a wall (don't do that), it's also a unique look at the dark side of wall street.
Also, i'm not a conspiracy theorist but i think Scorsese was trying to push the R-Rated elements as far as he can, and the movie almost got a NC-17 for showing men genitals in that gay scene, but Scorsese used some visual effects to hide them.
Some would say, these things weren't necessary, but i respectfully disagree.

A Very Underrated movie, that didn't get the recognition it deserves when it first came out, but now, i think it started to pick up, people start realizing how powerful this movie is.
I still need a second look to fully appreciate it, but i think it was more than powerful performances and incredible story, it's about what 'normal' people would do under extreme circumstances.
The movie had a fantastic ending, although it took me a while to appreciate it, at first i thought that it was weird, but now that i had the time to absorb it, i think it's very creative, and the director should be praised for such a powerful movie.

12 Years a Slave (2013)
Steve McQueen first 'mainstream movie', although it's not his best work, i think that Shame is way better than this movie, but a very touching story with incredible acting and great visuals, although it had very brutal torture scenes which makes it hard to watch, but Steve McQueen tends to deliver his movies as realistic as possible, and he would go as far as possible just to make his point.
Did i mention the incredible performances?

Captain Phillips (2013)
I love Paul Greengrass work, he's an incredible director, combine that with Tom Hanks and a true story and you have a fantastic movie.
Furthermore, supporting roles from people you never seen before never blow you away until you see it here, it's a rare possibility that a secondary character becomes more interesting than the leading one, i'm specifically talking about Barkhad Abdi performance.
One thing i don't understand is that, why Tom Hanks never got recognition for his performance as Captain Phillips because i thought he did a great job.

This came in as a surprise for me because, i always thought that David O. Russell is an overrated director, i mean, most of his movies tend to fall down and collapse at the last third, but i found myself, enjoying every minute of it, it actually reminded me of martin scorsese movies.
The movie tends to be overally Hollywood and was filled with over acting, but that doesn't take away the fun, because i was very much glued to my seat, with a wide smile on my face, great movie.

A movie made for the sole purpose of entertaining it's audience and it succeeded doing so, i had a blast watching it, and i would watch it again and again.
The movie gets a lot of hate for being one out of three when it should be just one movie, but i take that positively as extending the fun.
No-one can possibly deny the quality of this movie, so i find it hypocritical to abuse the ratings on it just because it's based on a cash-grab, to me, it's a win win situation.

Gravity (2013)
Not to freak anyone out, but Gravity was more about visuals than about it story or characters, i mean yeah, it's a survival story, but with mini-background about anything.
The visuals were flawless and mind blowing, along with great soundtrack and flawless sound mixing, but what ruined it for me was George Clooney, i don't really like that guy, but i don't mind him, i do mind the fact that they tried to show astronauts as down to earth people, which never works, his character was really annoying, it supposed to add some witty commentary to the plot, but George Clooney is not funny on earth, so it's impossible to make him funny in space.

Lone Survivor (2014)
A very brutal movie about 'Operation Red Wings' in 2005, when a group of American Navy Seals tried to assassinate Ahmad Shahd, a high profile Taliban member in Afghanistan, the mission fails and the group get stuck on the mountains with no radio cover or back up, they find themselves fighting to survive.
The movie featured some fantastic performances, beautiful cinematography, beautiful score, very realistic conflicts, it was exceedingly difficult to watch as you already know what is going to happen, and the fact that it based on a true story makes it very dramatic.

This movie was obviously trashed for being a Michael Bay movie, which is very understandable, it's also a comedy about real murders, which is something very hard to defend.
But Michael Bay "Skills" can work if it was employed at the right way, with the right people, remember how he made stereotypes with robots in transformers and it was awful?, well, Michael Bay have this amazing ability to make people look stupid, he even made robots looked stupid, so, what if he made that to people that were actually stupid? that could work, just give it a try, or read my review below to fully understand.

Elysium is a fantastic movie, i had no idea that i would enjoy it that much, it just goes to prove that matt damon will make any movie watchable.
It shows you two very different worlds and two very different people, and it surpassed expectations when it comes to both worlds, Elysium looked flawless and the earth looked even better, with criminals all over the place, people with tattoos, the cities were torn down, the whole thing looked beautiful.
But it's far away from perfection, as few elements killed it for me, like Jodi Foster accent, and William Fichtner performance, few plot mistakes here and there but it was very good movie nonetheless, and by the way, the soundtrack, my god the fucking soundtrack was beautiful, i could watch this movie over and over just because of the soundtrack.

I don't have much to say about this movie, it had great story, great performances, Matthew McConaughey weight loss was incredible, but i do think that they tried to over glorify Ron Woodroof's life, i mean you can see it for yourself and decide, but i think he was more selfish and self-absorbed than what they made him look, but other than that, it's a great movie.

Never knew that a ridiculous movie can make me laugh so hard, it had a very strange story, very mediocre execution, but spectacular cast, and characters based on true people, they made fun of eachother, used their real names and it was endless fun through out the entire movie, even better, they had a fantastic too many cameos.
It's affordless fun, with very vile jokes, references to other movies, references to the people in the movie, and it's simply hilarious, it's also Seth Rogan director debut, and i can't wait for a sequel or at least a similar gathering.

Her (2013)

Very emotional, very private, and very well done, it's a beautiful tale on loneliness that anyone can relate to, specially in this time and age when technology is making people very self-absorbed and very lonely.
The best thing about this movie was the atmosphere, because the whole thing looked very modern, even people looked different here, not to mention, Scarlett Johansson voice is enough to make you...you know, anyway, it's a great movie.

The Conjuring (2013)

God, it been so long since i actually watched a good horror movie, now, this doesn't mean it's not filled with cliches but it was executed perfectly, with some fantastic performances, and great production value.
The reason why, i'm not a big fan of horror, is that, they don't look like this, this movie proves that horror CAN have good performances and good stories, horror can have interesting characters and great production value, and i love it for being that. i think it's the new face of horror.

Nebraska (2013)
I don't know why but i expected lots more from this movie, maybe it was because of all the Oscar nominations, but that doesn't mean it's any bad, i actually enjoyed it pretty well, and had few laugh-out-loud moments.
I loved how the movie looked, the whole atmosphere, and the comedy, the story was beautiful and the performances were very solid, the movie have a really dark tone to it, which makes it more enjoyable once being watched again.

I still think the first one was better, this one included more drama, more suffering, and less of the hunger games, but it was very well executed, so i can't complain, but the ending was weird and unsatisfying for two and a half hour movie.

It's a TV-Movie which makes it less popular, but it's very enjoyable, although, i don't like Steven Soderbergh's work, but he did a great job showcasing Liberace at his peak.
I do think that it was more about Liberace's boyfriend than him, which makes it even more interesting, Matt damon just keep getting cooler at every movie, his performance here is great, and this would be a great hit if it's released on Cinemas instead of HBO.

Broken City (2013)

Critics destroyed this movie to the point that nobody went to see it, even though it had Russell Crowe, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Mark Wahlberg, mainly because people don't take Mark Wahlberg seriously as an actor, but we all seen him in 'The Departed', he can be a serious actor, and the 2nd reason is that, nobody know the director.
Now, i can admit that the movie, had a lot of mediocre moments, few plot mistakes, but the story is inspirational and worth a watch, it shows you how the people have the ability to change even if it means, losing everything they have.
It had great performances overall, and it's one of those cases where you shouldn't rely on critics to determine whether or not this movie is good, you just have to find out for yourself.

This movie disappointed me big time, Steve Coogan isn't that good of an actor, he can be a decent comedian depending on the dialog he's having, but a serious role like this should be a No-No.
The story was decent, and Judi Dench performance was magnificent, but the combination between the two didn't work at all. some how the witty and the serious was off to me, Steve Coogan being a very dis-respective person in this movie combined with the lovely Judi Dench was none-homogeneous, and had no reason to it being like this, because once you try to be compassionate with this woman trying to find her son, Steve comes in and ruin it with his selfishness or with a horrible anti-religious comment.
It was off and on the entire time, it's like flashing a light in your face, but it was decent nonetheless, but nothing special.

A disappointing end to what could have been the best romantic trilogy ever created, and that's saying something.
Sure, the dialog was extremely realistic, the acting was as good as it always have been, but, they completely ruined it with that feminists bullshit.
it was so easy to see that a big blow up is going to occur from a very easy confrontation, it's like the writer have forced a fight into the dialog for no reason at all other than gaining some time, even worse was the ending. how in the fuck does a romantic movie ends on a down note? that's horrible change of events, and if they were going for realistic, then, they screwed up.

The most overhyped animated film of all time, it's not bad, but not great either, it's average at best, i mean seriously, it's a story about princesses, how great can it get?
It certainly don't deserve to be the most successful animation of all time with 1.2 billion dollars worldwide.
Have you ever heard the theory that a music video can make a movie successful? they say that about 'lose yourself' that made '8 mile' successful, and 'i will always love you' that made 'The Bodyguard' successful, well, i believe this is the case for 'Frozen', 'let it go' made it successful, i actually heard the song 100 times before even consider watching the movie, and i might be blurring the line with this because 'Frozen' wasn't that bad, but i don't want to bring my kids into a world where 'Frozen' is the most successful animated film of all time.

Very Overhyped movie, mainly because everyone wanted a good superman flick, so this movie was destine to succeed even if it means, it's not that good, i even overhyped it myself and tweeted about it before even watching it, maybe i was caught in the moment.
The movie had very shocking plot mistakes, and handled a large materials in a long period of time, which made it very flat and forgettable, it never focused on people, and had too many cliche characters, and some horrible performances, aside from that, the movie is watchable and had great amount of action, great soundtrack and Superman looked amazing, but the whole thing was mashed up and rushed, it's basically what i like to call, "A CGI Clusterfuck", excuse my french.
But it succeeded at the box office which means we will see more than enough of it, but i just hope, that they focus a little bit on the story, and the characters, because if your story about superman and you didn't even explain that character to us, then.... you fucked up.

I love movies that are based on true stories, even if the story is very sad, like this one, the event on this movie happened in 2009, and i don't want to spoil anything but it's really obvious, there's even a YouTube video about the incident.
What i liked about this movie is that it looked very real, it's not even scripted, and it had great performances from Octavia Spencer and Michael B. Jordan, which makes it sadder, so it's not for the weak heart.

Snitch (2013)
Snitch was supposedly based on a true story, but if you actually watch the movie, there's so many things that don't make any sense, and it was never deep on characters or on the drug cartel in general.
Although Dwayne Johnson got lot of praise for his performance, i still think that he's not that good of an actor, the movie tends to be over dramatic but there wasn't anything moving, which made it a bit mediocre, but it still worth a watch.

I think that the biggest insult is that Spike Lee took such a project, it was destine to fail, because Spike Lee is a hack, plain and simple, he never go deep on characters, and he have no attention to details and he always use visuals in an unnecessary way and no, i haven't seen 'Malcolm X', because it's over three hours.
Now, i made a really long review discussing the differences between this one and the original, but i can sum it up with few lines:
Like i said before, he don't have an attention to details, which is fairly obvious if you seen the original, Joe Doucett was imprisoned for 20 years, then he came out with an Iphone and he started using it! he started approaching people and asking them questions which is never the case for someone who have been imprisoned for 20 years and never talked to anyone all that time, he learned how to use a computer in two days, and the movie had so many awkward moments and i might be blurring the line with this entry because the movie was averagely executed and fun to watch, but if you have time then watch the original, don't ever waste your time watching a Spike Lee movie.

Iron Man 3 (2013)
Shitty movies like this one proves that fanboyism is alive and well, more than ever before, seriously, how can a travesty like this makes 1.2 billion dollars, the 5th most successful movie of all time, is Robert Downey's Charm enough to make people go out to watch his movies? because it had absolutely no story, very horrible jokes, too many plot mistakes, not one interesting character, narration that comes and goes randomly, very few action, robert downey sickness that comes and goes randomly, very little attention to details and overall boring atmosphere.
The producers were like "Fuck you, we're going to make 1 billion dollar no matter what we do", which is very sad because it proves that big budget movies will most likely get it money back multiplied just because of the advertisement which makes people think that they are in for a great movie, it goes to show that directors don't have to fix plot errors and the story, because they don't have to, people are going to watch it anyway, this is what happening with most Marvel or DC comics movies, better yet, all big budget movies are turning that way, and why are people ok with this? because buying a ticket for a movie that you didn't enjoy is exactly like buying a video game that doesn't work, people should feel betrayed, i know i do.

Enemy (2013)
Coming from the same guy who directed "Prisoners" the same fuckin year, this movie shocked me on how terribly boring it was.
It had Jake Gyllenhaal on the lead which is usually pretty cool since i love the guy, but he played two characters that are the fuckin same. with no depth and no personality difference, you can only tell which one is which by what he was wearing, and that was fuckin weak.
The movie had the dark atmosphere, which is usually to my liking, but the story was so dark, i didn't get any of it, i mean, i love watching movies with a complex plot, and then, i love to pick up the pieces and start forming the story myself, but here, i didn't get anything, i was completely lost. i actually had to read a fuckin explanation for it, and that's fuckin weak ass execution of a plot, it's also very pretentious and void.
my advice is to skip it, maybe "Prisoners" was a one hit wonder, either that, or this is just a rushed, pointless movie to cash-in on the novel.

Scary Movie 5 (2013)
Ladies and gentlemen, i present to you, the worst movie of 2013, and possibly one of the worst movies ever produced Scary MoVie.
While i was never a fan of the franchise, but i recently got the 5 movies on Blue-ray and decided 'what the hell, it can't be that bad', but i was wrong, while i did enjoy the first one and the 4th one, the 3rd was my favorite, and i hated the 2nd one, i was disgusted the entire time, but this one managed to be worst than the 2nd one.
The whole thing looked rushed and lazily made, while that the 'quality' of the entire franchise, but this one is way lazier than the ones before, the fact that it supposed to be a spoof doesn't excuse the fact that it had very bad or no production value, because everything is better when there's effort into it.
I didn't even laugh the entire movie, i giggled few times, one was the intro, it had Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan, and the scene was to mock their accomplishments in real life, Lohan with the 'hit and runs and DUI' and Sheen having with 'sex all night' thing was kinda funny, but the entire movie was pointless and boring, it had cameos from Terry Crews, Snoop Dogg and Katt Williams but they served no purpose, they were not funny, i actually giggled more on the bloopers than the actual movie, that how bad this movie is, please don't ever waste your time watching this shit.
