Three Kings

Back in the good old pre-911 days, we could all laugh at the original Iraq war, because basically the US kicked ass. This film captures the spirit of that war and even offers a little peek at the devastation that the poor civilians had to suffer through.

The Wind Will Carry Us (1999)

A simple Tarkovsky-like film about a visitor to a village in northern Iran. The scenery is fantastic. The character study of the city-man in the rural village is interesting as well.

Top what? I decided to list all the 9 and 10 star rated movies (based on my own ratings) of each year instead of trying to make a list of exactly 10. Some years may have 1 and some may have 20 in the list. It depends on the amount of good movies I saw from that year - but even more it hopefully reflects the amount of decent movies that were actually made in a particular year.

I have included a small explanation for people who may not have heard of the film.
