When a Russian mobster sets up a real estate scam that generates millions of pounds, various members of London's criminal underworld pursue their share of the fortune. Various shady characters, including Mr One-Two, Stella the accountant, and Johnny Quid, a druggie rock-star, try to claim their slice...
Uri (Karel Roden), a russian mob boss who wants to build an arena in London closes a deal with Lenny Cole (Tom Wilkinson) a London mafia gangster to guarantee that the city will provide all required building permits. However Uri is repeatedly unable to deliver his part of the deal: seven million sterling pounds. What Uri does not know is that his accountant, the sexy Stella (Thandie Newton) who was in charge of coordinating the withdrawls, hired the Wild Bunch, composed by One Two (Gerard Butler), Mumbles (Idris Elba) and Handsome Bob (Tom Hardy), to steal the seven millions pounds every time the sum is withdrawn for delivery. But Victor (Dragan Micanovic), Uri's right hand, does not trust Stella and had hire two russian gorillaz, whose favorite conversation theme is to brag about their war's scars, to make the second withdrawal and to follow Stella just in case the accountant is trying to play the smarty.
The Gorillaz almost frustrated the second robbery, and although they could not protect the money they took a very good look of the perpetrators, espcially of One Two who had a hard time trying to shake them off of his back.
Lenny have a problem of his own since Uri's "lucky painting" which Lenny had received as a token of trust for the deal, has been secretely stolen by his stepson: Johnny Quid (Toby Kebbell), a crank head junky and rockstar who apparently wants to hold on to the picture to get his hated stepfather in troubles with the russian mafioso. Things get complicated when Uri, after being robbed twice, reclaim the painting to Lenny. Uri does not buy the unconvincing story of Lenny about the whereabouts of the painting and starts to believe that Lenny is behind the robberies and breaks Lenny's kneecaps as an advance of what will happen to him had Lenny failed to recover the painting by the end of the week.
Lenny did not suspect of his stepson at first, since Johnny Quid, the RockNRolla, has been reported dead by the press in the days previous to the painting robbery. But as Johnny have faked his own death several times in the last year in order to boost the sales of his records, It did not took long for Lenny to find out that Johnny was still alive and become the prime suspect since Johnny would be the only lunatic who would dare to steal something from mischievous Lenny, a gangsnters known by his inclination to feed live people to the crabs. Lenny orders Archie (Mark Strong) to find him and bring him for a reprimend.
While the attention is mostly on the painting, Handsome Bob is committed to find out the rat that had put in jail the whole wild bunch and many of the criminals of the area including Archie, Lenny's right hand. He meets a gay lawyer, who happened to be Stella's husband, and who promise to get Bob the name and address of the rat if Handsome Bob agrees to a more intimate relationship.
The painting ends up in the hands of One Two after being stolen from Johnny by a couple of junkies. One Two gives it as a present to Stella who happened to be atracted to him. Later, Uri's who covets Stella's love decides to propose to her and discover his lucky painting sitting on an easel in Stella's living room. Outraged, Uri invites Victor over not precisely to party with Stella.
Archie learns from Tank (Nonso Anozie) - whose nickname comes from his fame of knowing everything that happens in the streets - that the wild bunch is responsible for stealing Uri's money so Archie decides to pay a visit to One Two and arrives just in time before the two russian gorillaz rape him wiht a big Rambo-style knife. You may guess the gorillaz had found One Two after following Stella to his flat. A few minutes later the rest of the wild bunch arrives at One Two's flat bringing the news of who the rat is but Archie's seize them before they could reveal anything. To make Archie's day, he receives a call from Johnny Quid's old agent to inform him that they have found Johnny and they are comming over to bring him. So Archie fulfills all of his tasks just in time to please his boss.
Lenny wreaking rage tell the wild bunch about his plan of killing them very slowly and it is then when Handsome Bob pulls out his ace from under his sleeve and deliver to Archie the evidence that proves that Lenny is in fact the rat that put them all in jail years ago. Archie kills Lenny by sinking him, wheelchair and all, in the Tamesis and become the new real state mob lord.
