"Big meh, made even worse for all the hype. Just terribly written with poor characters and mostly confusing. At the same time I do admit that other SF authors have basically cannibalized this book so it offers very little if anything at all new. For example, Altered Carbon basically rips 50% of this book's plot and just reforms it a little. Maybe it would have been better if I read it in 1984, all I need now is a time machine. "
