What Movie Scared You The Most?

Wizard of Oz: Flying Monkeys... Those ever-grinning sons-a-bitches.

The Strangers was really freaky. The first time I saw The Ring, it scared the hell out of me.

[REC] was the scariest thing ever... (tho haven't seen the blair witch project yet)

Good Call on [REC], cant wait til the 2nd one comes over to the States!

Night of the Living Dead, saw it summer of 69 at the drive-in. Scared hell out me then, and I'm still scared of that movie. Cannot watch it or any part of it. Won't be caught in a cemetery after dark either. Isn't that dumb after all these yrs.

i think it was Alien by Ridley Scott. I was around 13 and was one of the first horror movies i've ever seen. Even though I saw it on a small black and white tv screen, I was alone in my room at night and scared as hell!! :D

I don't know, The Ruins and Wrong Turn is disgusting.. [REC] I think

The Ring (2002), Haute tension (2003),
À l'intérieur (2007), Manichithrathazhu (1993)
À l'intérieur (2007), Manichithrathazhu (1993)

The only movie that really scared me is ET. I saw it when I was five and had nightmares about it for years. (And it still kinda freaks me out.)
Then there is the guy who lives in a dumpster in Mulholland Drive. I think I screamed out loud the first time he apperead on the screen.
Other than that I can't remember being genuinely afraid while watching a movie. Even though I watch horror flicks a lot .

-The Descent, it was the most disturbing movie I have seen, in a human and realistic way.
-The Cube, I was young, but old enough, the ending of this movie messed with my mind and it stayed with me for a while after finishing it.
-The Grudge... it was creepy, gave me sudden scares, it pulled the anxiety and suspense quite well from me.

I watched Alien when I was younger and then right after went to Disney World and rode the sensory thriller Alien ride when it was still there. I still think I am scarred today from it haha.

The Unborn o-o
there wasn't even much to be scared of but THAT TRAIN PART SCARED ME
can you imagine sitting in a dark house with 8 mirrors,a staircase, all alone.
I'm now horrormovie-phobic
i cant even walk down the hallway without looking behind my back and running

Idle Hands!
I was in my early teens when I watched it. It was 1 hour past midnight and the lights were off. I avoided hopping onto my bed from the open area underneath the bed for a while, a very long while.
No other movie got to me the way Idle Hands did. Maybe a second of a scare jump, but those are a result of a shocking unexpected event.

I can only think of one set of movies that made me fearful in the real world... Jaws.
Jaws got me scared of swimming in the ocean/lakes for a loooong time. I wasnt that much scared of going in, but with an overactive imagination, id always freak myself out by looking down (only works if you cant see the bottom) and imagining that something was down there, something huge, stalking me like the prey i am.
Scared myself a little now, just thinking about it :(
Also, in recent years i thought of that again when i watched that movie where to people just float around in the ocean after a plain wreck or something.
Ranna: That part of mullholland drive fucked me up too :( and ive watched alot of horror, still that dumpster guy... argh

Silence of the Lambs (watched it when I was 8 and it is the only movie that still scares me)

I would have to say Darkness Falls, when I watched it I nearly fainted; and yet I sat through saw VI and ate popcorn through the whole thing.

The Ghost of Christmas Future in A Muppet Christmas Carol always used to terrify me when I was younger. It was the only movie I saw as a child that made me cry.

The ring and Hollow Man. Scariest shit ever (when I was 10 years old).

The Never Ending Story when Atreyu is about to face the werewolf and he sees wall paintings of all the things that happened in his adventure and things that hadn't happened yet. the eyes in the cave...
here's what i mean

here's what i mean

When I first watched Stephen King's The Langoliers, the idea of everything being eaten by giant mouth monsters and leaving nothing terrified me. then the remake of The Shining came out and for whatever reason they would only show it late at night in my viewing area. The rotting chick in the tub gave me nightmares for months.

When I was a kid the movie 'The Exorcist' really scared me. I watched it when I was about 8 and it stuck with me for years. It scared me a lot when I was watching it but even more later. I was absolutely positive for years after watching it that Satan was in my closet waiting to possess me.

The Shining (watched it when i was a kid..it was terrifying ), The Exorcism Of Emily Rose really scared me a lot and The Grudge also gave me the spooks.

Movies don't really scare me these days, I reckon I may've seen enough horror films in my childhood that I mentally drew a big bold line between the movie and the real world.
When I was a kid, though, a lot of movies freaked me out. I can think of three off the top of my head:
Outbreak. Not a particularly scary (or all that good) movie, but I was very very young when I chanced upon it while my aunt was watching it. There was one scene where this guy sees a hut full of infected people and gets sick and tries to take off his helmet while all his coworkers freak out. I have no idea why but that traumatized me and we had to go home right then because I was so hysterical.
Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. The sludge monster-thing that just devoured everything freaked me the hell out as a kid.
Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask. I can't even remember why, but that movie really creeped me out as a kid.
All silly stuff, but that's the kind of things that scare you as a kid I suppose.

I dare say the The Haunted Mask movie was even better than than the book. For the longest time I wouldn't watch Arachnophobia because when I was four a corn spider jumped (about two feet)out of some corn and bit me right on the neck. But after I watched the movie a few years later I became very tolerant of spiders. Although, if they come within an arms reach I will squash them.

Shutter Island, the most recent film experience that had a mixture regarding emotional responses from me.

When I was about seven or eight, I watched the movies Salem's Lot. The little kid who appears at the window had some eyes that scared me to death. I actually slept with a cross for about six months after that!
I'm pretty sure that I scared myself to death as a kid so much with my own imagination that now I haven't found any movies that scare me anymore.

I'd have to go with Wrath The Wolf on this one. The Exorcism Of Emily Rose was one of the scariest movies I've ever seen in my life. I'm Catholic, so the idea of the film is very "real" to me; pair that with the visuals in that film and you've got the makings of a nightmare. I don't care what anyone says, Jennifer Carpenter is a damn good actress. She did an excellent job for the role of Emily Rose.
I remember after watching that I would not set foot off my bed until it was a daylight. It scared the shiz-it out of me.

The Fast and the Furious - Because they gave Paul Walker a lead role... nooooo!!

Martyrs!

The only movie that ever gave me a scare was the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, when I was a kid. Nothing scares me, anymore, though. Also, Aliens sure did creep me out.

Villmark aka Dark Woods. A Norwegian horror movie.

audition by takashi miike!(when the bag moves)

Audition is the only movie that really freaked me out. I was shaking for about an hour after the movie ended, lol. Actually, One Missed Call (the original) freaked me out a little the second time I watched it (I don't know why). Takashi Miike should really do more straight horror films, he's good at it.

Let's see...in recent memory, [Rec] featured a pretty creepy payoff. Martyrs definately messed me up quite a bit and comes highly recommended to any horror/disturbing film fans out there. The reveal at the end of Sleepaway Camp was pretty shocking/unnerving.
And of course, when I was very young, 5 or so, Harry and the Hendersons-- when that damn sasquatch's face drops down, upside down in front of the station wagon windshield. That scared the bejesus out of me.

I have never really watched a film that has scared me... but The Orphan was probably the closest.

Well, since the Halloween is just around the corner, let's revive this discussion...hmmm....
The movie that scared me and still scares me is Dead Silence. Why? I really don't know. The feel I got from it was pure terror, but that's, luckily, all I remember from it.
I've recently watched Audition, it was mentioned here a few times, but I did not really find it that scary. Fascinating yes, scary, no.

Horror-wise, The Strangers was the first film to truly scare me since I first saw An American Werewolf in London at age 10. As a big horror fan, I'd have to agree with an earlier statement that, in general, Asian horror has been far more scary than American horror for at least the past decade.
As for other movies, I find 12 Monkeys and Idiocracy scary mostly because the futures they depict could definitely happen.

descent 1+2 ,inside hm....frontiers

I'm generally a hard person to scare but Dead Silence really got to me haha.

I'm with you on that one, ashlieh4048. Dead Silence made me sleep with the lights on.

Blair Witch Project at the end, and Paranormal Activiy just because my house is almost set up like the house.

The Descent is a pretty good movie but I didn't think it was really scary.
Biggest scare :
- Friday the 13th
- The Blair Witch Project
- Audition
- Silent Hill
- Ringu (The Ring Japanese version). this one would be my scariest. I watched it with a bunch of friends and everybody was laughing all the time but I wasn't... At the end, when she came out of the TV, it was the most frightening moment I saw in a movie. My friends couldn't stop laughing when they saw my reaction...
Last comment: The exorcist is a classic. I was expecting something really really scary and it wasn't at all. I found it was actually funny. My guess is that 40 years ago, when it came out, people were quite shocked and possibly scared but nowadays, there are some really more disturbing movies. Seriously, when the girl is screaming, swearing, puking, playing with the crucifix, did you think it was really scary ? I did not.
... and one final comment! Funny that nobody has mentionned Hostel or Saw, both very popular and very overrated and eventually not very scary...

Paranormal Activity 2!
Okay, I don't watch many scary ones. I have never seen a scary one in theaters actually- I mean, horror, not slasher films. I've seen a couple, those aren't scary. But I was so scared in PA2 I almost ran out of the theater.
Any zombie movie will not scare me in theaters, but leave me with bad dreams for a month.
I cannot watch anything claymation, stop film, however you refer to it. It disturbs me. I blame Wallace and Gromit- one of my parent's favorites and I watched a bit of one once. And now, anything like that freaks me out. Chicken Run, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, anything.
My father would agree with Charles' post up there: those flying monkeys were the only thing in any movie that ever scared him.
