Moderators

Ok I think it's finally time to get some moderation in the forums, I do move and delete quite a few threads myself but am not around all the time.

If anyone is interested please post in this thread or send me a private message.

could moderators also have the authority to clean up duplicate database entries and/or merge them, mostly pertaining to US and UK amazon entries that are identical?

yes, the power, especially one of such extreme such as a moderator of an online movie, game and music cataloging forum, is dangerous. Best leave it for the big kids then, Yama.

i never said i wanted to be a moderator... to much power -.-, also, and if ur assigned moderation place is having troubles, u are the one in trouble... which sux... also... i meant if sum1 had the power to ban -.- i know that because every mod ive known on games have cracked and gone down the deep end and started permanently banning people... he even shut down the game permanently, we got it back up though...

Would moderators be able to take care of poorly written reviews or cheap comments on items? (I talking of one word\sentence reviews that consist of "Cool" or "I played this")

i give my vote to the future holy inquisitor Grand Assault ;). also i think moderators should only manage the forums and offending comments/reviews. hopefully things like clean-ups in the databases will be open to everyone once implemented.

Yes the moderators will be able to remove other things on the site but I will have to code these functions first.

I'd prefer the moderators to be decent contributors to the site (ones who contribute stuff of *value*, that is), and be at least mostly sane. Those are my only suggestions.

I agree with Richard, I think the members that add a lot of good images and reviews, report bugs, have helpful, coherent commentary in the threads would make the best mods.

If any opening is available, I would like to sign up.

oh and prelude, i wasnt saying its all that powerful, but even a small amount of power ANYWHERE will make a person crave more, that is the fault of the human mind, power, greed etc etc, basically the seven deadly sins and a few more lol

For once, please get some moderators... preferably for the Anime section so that we can get it under control... (I feel sorry for the sucker with that job... its like sticking your head in the mouth of an angry Lion with glass in it's foot)

I don't know exactly why he left because I don't have any of his contact information but from the way he fought with the contributing members against the narutards on the boards he must have finally got sick of doing it and pulled a Booth.

Yeah, well he has my thanks for defending us, but, I'm tired of this I'm going toi try to take action now and change the Anime Section and the Random Chat Section for the better so it can go back to the way it was in July... and the fact that he was the first one of you guys I actually considered an acquaintance...

anyways, give me some time to see if I can change the Anime and Random Chat, I'm going to reinforced GemLil's plan until they finally agree to it, it will work... eventually...

I'd like to give it a whirl, I would love to be part of the team that makes this community flourish.

Might I suggest an application form Tom? That way you can look for specific traits in the applicants. Previous Experience, Objectivity, Maturity and a Moral Compass! It is obvious who contributes and how so really you need to screen for people who you think are up to the job.

I will make coding the moderation stuff a priority this week.

Also something has seriously got to be done about the age of some of these people....9, 10 and 11 are far too young.

I'm not for the anhilation of the anime section, I mean used to post there before the 'tards.
And I don't think I'm a good candidate to moderate because I think I would become a little mod tyrant but if I get voted as a mod, meh.

There are some way too young members around here and if their parents saw something bad that they didn't want them to see they could sue Tom and the site and all of this would be gone forever.

I use the word anhilation....may be a bit strong. Some serious changes need to be made more than anything.
