Space Quest series: Another classic Sierra old school adventure series. Every entry has lots of pictures, full description, and even YouTube Videos. Enjoy!

Police Quest series: Yet another classic Sierra series.
I have mixed views on this series. PQ1 was amazing, the best start of any of the Sierra series, but PQ2 was a big disappointment when they removed the bird's eye view drive-around-town feature. PQ3 and PQ4 I never bothered with because they tried to make it look 'cinematic' but it looked so cheezy, i just wished they stuck with cartoon characters like Leisure Suit Larry and Space Quest did.

Leisure Suit Larry series: One of the longest running series in PC Gaming history. Enjoy!

p.s. is anyone finding these lists useful and fun, or is it just me? lol
Custom lists are so handy, I can't wait to see how Tom revamps them. If properly accessible, such lists can become a lot more powerful and useful than regular search results.

One more awesome series:
King's Quest series - from version 1 to 8, include all remakes and collection editions, with every entry full of screenshots and videos.

I'll start on a couple platformers. Sonic the Hedgehog, Castlevania, and Mario for now, if the third's possible. Then I'll do Ninja Gaiden and Rayman, and maybe even Wario and Gex.

Mario would be a doozy, that's for sure. lol
A tip, if you're making lists, only add one version of the game, and try to add the most approriate one. There's so many dupes floating around.
I'm off for the holidays right now, so over next week or so, I plan on tackling the following series: Half-Life, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and if I feel insane to the membrane, maybe even 'The Sims' *shudder*
p.s. I edited the first post to add mine (and other people's) lists so they are easier and quicker to find.

You're going for some good ones there, Prelude. I was planning on doing the main releases, not re-s or compilations (that don't add extra content, of course). That and I'm sorting it based on initial release date. Autosort would be awesome for lists (though criteria may need be edited duly).

Rayman
Sonic the Hedgehog
I hope you don't mind the way I did it, with initial releases on the main generation consoles and a small exception for re-releases that add original content. I'm not sure if the ones you've done overlap in that way, but Sims is sure to.

It doesn't matter how you did it, or even how I did mine, because its easy for anyone to make their own lists to suit. It is hard to figure out which versions to add and which not to, but I agree with your rule of thumb; if it adds content, then its 'new', but if its just a 'greatest hits' or 'best seller' re-release, that's just shovelware and doesnt belong. :)
For PC games, some 'Game of the Year' editions are nothing but re-releases with new packaging, and others actually have new content. I'm doing Half-life now, and the bloody folks at valve kept re-release a 'new' platinum edition everytime an add-on got created. the first had 3 games, the 2nd platinum had 4, and the 2002 platinum edition had 5 games. technically, they all belong on the Half-Life list, but man, is there ever lots of shovelware out there!
A good place to sort out all the revisions (along with great covers and screenshots) is mobygames.com

You're right about Moby Games.
Castlevania
Gex
Ninja Gaiden
I'd like to reserve Godzilla's video game history, though I'm sure it won't be anywhere near as monstrous as the big M's.

I'm almost done Half-Life's list, but having dinner tonight. I might have time later tonight to finish it up.

Thanks. Another tip for anyone else planning on doing lists is to add items backwards based on how they're planning on sorting it. If you don't know why I say this, you've obviously never attempted to have a sorted list of fifty items or more.

Half-Life series: This one is quite big, and includes all editions, re-releases, add-ons, spin-offs, as well as two upcoming awesome fan-made remakes - Half-Life: Decay and Black Mesa. I left out Counter-Strike, Team Fortress and Portal since they have nothing to do with the actual Half-Life universe. I also decided to make new entries for certain 'bundled' items such as HL2: Deathmatch, HL: Source, and HL2: Lost Coast, so people can rate them invididually and review them seperate from Half-Life or Half-Life 2.
update: I delete the Half-Life console series and merged it with this list. It probably keeps it cleaner and more organized by showing all PC and console versions in one list, just like my Call of Duty list later on.

My biggest list so far:
Call of Duty series - includes all PC versions as well as console versions. 30 items in this list.
And Sandrick, thanks for that list. I'll add it to my first post.

Thanks, Sandrick. One small addition though: you're missing the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess.

I finished up another big list:
Medal of Honor series
I might have enough practice now to start tackling the Sims series. lol

p.s. @ Sandrick - you're also missing this gamecube zelda game:
www.mobygames.com/game/legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-master-quest-
It's a special compilation disc with bonus stuff that was never sold at retail level, but should still be included in the Zelda collection.

The Sims series: done! Jesus Mary Mother of Joseph! those guys at EA/Maxis sure know how to squeeze every bit of $$ from all the Sims addicts out there. And this is just the real releasese, bonus packs, expansions, and all console ports. I started another list for all the delux, combo packs, and collection editions.

The Sims shovelware series: In order to keep the above Sims series somewhat uncluttered (even though it stands at 59 entries!!), I decided to make a separate list of all shovelware that EA/Maxis throws at Sims fans. These are combo packs and compilations and collections that contain different expansion packs. Expect a lot more from Sims 2 (there's not many Sims 2 combo packs yet) once Sims 3 comes closer to release.

Devil May Cry Series - I just started it, but I got all the best from the Listal search.

Thanks Sasaki (mr.change-his-name-a-lot) :)
I'll add those to my first post.
Also, I just finished a nice one: DOOM Series. Enjoy, guys!

p.s. Sasaki, can you sort them out in chronological order (first to last)? That's how all other lists are and it would be better to keep it that way.
To help get the dates/order sorted out, here is a list of NFS releases, from newest to earliest (use this order, just flip it from earliest to newest): http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/need-for-speed-series

I'm afraid that due to the unrealistic image on the cover of many celebrity magazines, as well as the pressure from cliques made up of snooty and insecure young women, I'm going to have to binge for both Mario AND Wario. I plan to lose the full weight eventually, of course.
Mario Kart
Mario Party
Wario Land
WarioWare
Expect one for Mario Land and concurrent NES and handheld appearances, including Donkey Kong and Pinball, the next time I feel the need to conform to society's expectations of what a young lady should look like. Even though I'm a young man.

GTA Series Included the Director's cut and some special editions. In CHRONOLOGICAL order.

You can easily re-order your existing lists; just drag'n'drop the image art around your list.
Re-sort them up and i'll add them to the first post.

@ Prelude , thanks for adding the GTA to the first post. I'll edit the Devil May Cry ASAP.

Another new list: Wolfenstein series
I thought it began with Wolfenstein 3D, but I discovered it actually began with a 2D Castle Wolfenstein game for the Commodore64.

I can only ever muster the patience to upload pictures of hot women (H).
Then write reviews about the godawful movies they star in :(
Say Prelude, are you not including PAL versions of games in the lists? To be honest I haven't looked at any yet so you might be, I just thought it might be a potential issue.

I'm not adding PAL or UK versions of games, and also leaving out Mac and Linux versions. If there is a PC game, and then xbox/ps2/gamecube version of the game, and then PAL version of xbox/ps2/gamecube, well, it can get quite a massive list.
I mean, these lists are more for myself to help sort out game series, and since i'm not in the UK and don't come across PAL versions of games, I'm leaving them off the lists. But maybe if Tom gives up some sort of master public list, or ability to group all sub-versions of games into each item, that might help.
If I get a chance, I'll make seperate PAL/UK/European version of my lists.

Ooh! That's helpful.
Upload cover art, screen shots, and post youtube videos for all your favorite games, and you'd be amazed how quickly points add up.
What's that, Prelude? :P

Almost done a much anticipated Final Fantasy series, but I'm posting it early in case anyone has feedback on it. It wont be finished til next year :)

You can probably remove Devil May Cry, NFS, and Grand Theft Auto from the first post now Prelude. I'm still on Mario Bros. Though I worked on the Castlevania list, if you know what I mean. ;|

Contribution! :D
Harvest Moon
Pokemon (main series only)
SimCity (stuck to PC versions as there are lots out there)
I felt like adding what little I could since very soon I'll be back at university and too busy to add much to this kind of thing. :( I might tackle the Worms series tomorrow if I can sort through the different versions to form some kind of understandable list. ;)
This does make me want to go make a lot of book series lists now though...

Happy New Year everyone!
As promised, its the new year, and my Final Fantasy series is now complete. If I missed anything major, let me know. 51 items. What a monster series :)
