I re-did the first post to make it more structured/easier to read, and tried to sort it by order of popularity.

Here's an old school classic list: Dynamix classic simulators. Dynamix was part of the Sierra group and in the early to mid '90s, they ruled the simulator genre with mega hits such as Aces of the Pacific, Red Baron, and Aces over Europe. Hope everyone enjoys this list, as I've had to add about 80% of these titles manually into Listal. So if you remember these titles and have played them, rate them please.
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 3 10:45 -
Sure I'll rate them^^, I'll vote for them, I'll do anything^^.
Can you accept my friendship again? Cause I changed my account -_-

Another nostalgic classic series: MicroProse classic simulators. Do check out the mini-novel I wrote up in that list. :)

lots of great faves of mine in there, such as F-15 Strike Eagle II, F-117A Stealth Fighter 2.0, ATAC, and Gunship 2000, although my favorite classic heli sim was LHX: Attack Chopper (not a microprose game so not in that list). Also, in the early '90s, I stopped caring about MicroProse releases, since I was so hooked on those Dynamix flight sims games in my other list.
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 3 16:20 -
Great lists!

thanks. i was suprised there was so few of those MicroProse games in Listal. I think I only found the last 4 or 5 of them. Hopefully now that they have proper entries and images, people will add the ones they played/owned.

I especially like the screenshots I found for Spitfire Ace. lol

man, true classic game, where you had to use 90% imagination when playing.

Thanks for doing this thread, I would love to see more opinion based lists e.g.

Worst game endings ever
Most controversial game releases
Best game releases of 2007
Worst game cover art
Most influential game releases

etc...

I am redoing the list system right now, it will be easier to change large lists, you will be able to add notes on each item and many other changes. It's going to look a lot better as well.

you read my mind. I just posted a long thread on all things I'd like to see changed for custom lists, and you've addressed most of them (add notes and easier edits of large lists are definite pluses)

And I was thinking of branching out into 'theme-based' lists, evolution lists (say, evolution of the flight sim, or evolution of the RPG genre).

It would also be nice to have a dynamic 'Upcoming game releases' list, and when the release date passes, it gets automatically placed into a dynamic 'New releases' list. And this can also be applied to movie releases.

Tom, are you going to just launch the site one day, or do you want me to test it out on a seperate server?
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 3 18:32 -
You both are acting clever^^

Prince of Persia added tons of items,
say, Prelude, are UPN and EAC's so important while adding items?

Prelude 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 3 20:31 -
actually, i was going to suggest to Tom to remove (or hide) the UPN/EAC number. does anyone out there even bother with it?

maybe some collector's out there are so anal as to read the barcode off their items, but it seems a bit far fetched, IMO, and just adds to the clutter.

what would be more important is seeing developed by, produced by, maturity rating, PAL/NTSC, Genre, and think like that.

but to answer your question, no, i dont bother with it, i leave those fields blank.

Most Controversial Games - I compiled this list from two different 'most controversial games' list on the internet. If you can think of any other ones, let me know. For multi-platform games, I included the version that stirred up the most trouble.
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 4 18:07 -
Great. The first post is getting bigger every day. I just need to check my list of options, but I don't know what series I still should make. Maybe something like "Most aggresive games"
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 4 18:08 -
Prelude, could you add X-COM to the first post?

Thanks to Sandrick's idea with Tim Schafer, I started a series called The Works of Sid Meier, one of PC industry's greatest game designers.

I'd nearly complete, all his games up to 2002 (still have a few recent ones like the new Pirates!, RailRoads! and Civilization III and IV to add to this list).

Here's one for the Metal Gear Series

And why would you leave out Portal in the Half-Life series?
Aperture Science was a competing company to Black Mesa and their logo is included in Episode 2 and Valve has said they might include some of the Portal stuff in Episode 3.

ah, i wasn't sure about that. I didnt play much Portal.

But does it have a stand-alone game, or is it only included in the Orange Box (which is in the list)?

thanks for that Metal Gear list, btw. I'm gonna add it to first post.

p.s. I added Portal to the HL list

p.p.s. I finished my list: The Works of Sid Meier

Do check it out. This guy is a genius designer.
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 5 11:08 -
Great work, Prelude. I'm gonna do the Most aggresive games 2007 list, and I'm planning to start the Most seller list, or maybe somebody is starting it already?

Portal is a stand alone game on Steam but in retail its only in the Orange Box.

And not to be nit picky but its the Metal Gear series, not the Metal Gear Solid series, as some of the games don't end with Solid.
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 5 11:26 -
Yeah, Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid are different type's of games.

Due to the stress and self-satisfaction involved with doing heavy lists, I'll finish up all the promised game series and promise not to reserve more than I can handle in the future.

Godzilla
Super Mario Bros.

The last one admittedly isn't finished, but I've almost breached the N64 era so it's as useful as anything. I've taken care to only include games that Mario is playable in while excluding most of the frivolous sports titles. I'll do more Mario for sure in the future, but this is the mainstream list.

I finished this one: Worst Games of All Time - It's the Top 20 from Seanbaby.com site. I've included as many screenshots and youtube vids I can find for most of these, as well as a fitting description. Enjoy! :)

Another one, yet unfinished.

Playstation Bestsellers 31 items yet, but I'm surprised almost all of the 31 were present in the Listal gallery.

thanks, saski.

two things I noticed, minor things, but maybe it can be fixed up:

1. You have two Sonic Hedgehog 2 games on the list, on is PAL, and the NTSC version is at bottom of list.

2. There's a few PAL Resident Evil games on there, when everything else on the list is NTSC.

here are the two NTSC games that should be there instead of PAL versions:
www.listal.com/game/resident-evil-2-playstation-17446
www.listal.com/game/resident-evil-3-nemesis-playstation-16535

3. You accidentally have the PC version of Frogger on your Playstation list.

other than that, great job. I'll add them to my main list at top.
ANBU Sasaki 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 10 13:21 -
I know the Playstation list is Kinda damned up, I don't get the names of some of the games but 98% of them are on the list, I almost finished it.

One of my most proudest lists (had to create a hell of these from scratch): Dungeons & Dragons - The Classics

It includes all legendary 'Gold Box' SSi titles that were release in late 80's / early '90s.

I left off this list as DOS gaming was ending and Baldur's Gate was just about to launch, so this list is aprox 1988 to 1998.

My next list will be modern D&D games, beginning with Baldur's Gate and onto NeverWinter Nights 2 (and onwards).

I will make a seperate list of all D&D titles released on consoles (these D&D lists are only for PC Gaming), but it's on my back burner for now.

Thanks, Sandrick. Damn, that first post is getting massive. I love it. :)

I'm also liking the new lists a lot. Going back thru some of my lists to add notes, such as this one (yeah, I only have two for now, but will add all of them.

www.listal.com/list/dungeons-dragons-consoles

Just finished this one, Dungeons & Dragons : Consoles, and used the new Notes feature extensively. Still have a few more notes to add but the list should be complete of every licensed d&d and ad&d game released on consoles.

The Works of Peter Molyneux.

I'm unsure if its complete, or if some of the items are in the correct order, so feel free to let me know. I opted to list the "shovelware" as well.
