97. The Three Musketeers - Alexandre Dumas
98. Hamlet - William Shakespeare
99. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl
100. Les Miserables - Victor Hugo

You could count it as 21, since I haven't really read ever single Shakespeare work, but I've read a damn lot of them, and because I haven't read all of His Dark Materials, just the first two books. Otherwise 23. Only 22 on the BBC list.

The doubles on there should have given way to some other good classics, like Kidnapped, Ivanhoe, The Picture of Dorian Gray. But I'm glad Jane Eyre is on there, it's one of my favorites.

well, my recommendations? - The lovely bones, Little Prince, Hamlet, Anne of Green Gables, Jane Eyre, Memoirs of a Geisha, Three Musketeers... but some of these you wonยดt find attractive if you are a man, like f.e. Anne or Jane Eyre, they are more attractive to women...men donยดt like these books ;-)

Unsure whether I can count Pride & Prejudice for having read Pride & Prejudice & Zombies?

So I've read 1/4 of them, and 13 of those listed above I read because I wanted to. Also the Shakespeare one may not count since I've read most but not all of his works (I figured most should be credit enough). (No) thanks to school for all the Dickens ones. :P

I've also attempted to read One Hundred Years of Solitude and The Bible, but keep getting bored with & abandoning them. So between that & the fact that I have no urge to read The Da Vinci Code, I'll never hit 100 percent on this one.

Some I've reread many times, like One Hundred Years of Solitude and Alice, especially Alice. And omfg, Anna Karenina and Madame Bovary were painful to read, just painful.

At least 20-30 of them are obligatory at school, how can it be that an average person did not read so many of the school programme 0_0
