Description: Japanese-born American actress Tamlyn Tomita has appeared in many Hollywood films and television series. Tamlyn came to limelight with her screen debut in the leading role of Kumiko in the martial arts drama film The Karate Kid Part II (1986). She gained further recognition by starring in numerous other movies including Come See the Paradise (1990), The Joy Luck Club (1993), and The Day After Tomorrow (2004) and after playing recurring roles on a number of TV series like The Burning Zone (1996–1997) and The Man in the High Castle (2018). From 1996 to 1997, Tomita was a regular cast member in the short-lived UPN drama series, The Burning Zone. In 1993, she starred in the pilot movie for Babylon 5. During her career she has guest starred on shows such as Seven Days; Quantum Leap; Living Single; Murder, She Wrote; Chicago Hope; Will & Grace; Nash Bridges; The Shield; Strong Medicine; Stargate SG-1; Stargate: Atlantis; The Mentalist; Private Practice; True Blood; Zoo; Tour of Duty; Criminal Minds; and many other dramas and comedies. She had longer term recurring roles on Crossing Jordan, JAG, 24, Eureka, Heroes, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Glee, Teen Wolf, Resurrection, How to Get Away with Murder, and Chasing Life.

Tamyln, who was born on a US military base on Okinawa, Japan, attended Granada Hills High School in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, graduating from there, and she had also been majoring in History at UCLA before discontinuing in order to pursue her acting career. Tamlyn's father, Asako L. Tomita, served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa between the Korean and Vietnam war during her birth; he later served as a sergeant in the LAPD. His family lived in the Japanese-American internment camps during World War II. Tamlyn's mother, Shiro, is of Japanese and Filipino descent.
