Description: English DJ and broadcaster, the host of "Barakan Beat" on InterFM. He also hosted the series Weekend Japanology and Begin Japanology on NHK World, which introduces various aspects of Japanese culture. Peter Barakan was born and raised in London by a Jewish father of Polish ancestry, and a mother of Burmese ancestry. After attending the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, Barakan entered the music industry as a clerk, and in 1974 moved to Japan to continue his career.
