A Saucerful of Secrets is an uneven album that could glibly be called Pink Floyd's sophomore jinx, though it's a bit more complicated than that. The problems behind the band's second outing can be summed up in two words: Syd Barrett. Or rather, the absence thereof. Curse of the Music Diary (2025) (929 music items)"6.1. This is a very different kind of Pink Floyd, not the Dark Side of the Moon one. Saucerful is more like typical late 60's rock music with slight symphonic elements and experimentation here and there. I remember listening to this for the first time and feeling sorely disappointed because it wasn't what I expected. "
