The film is the story of vicissitudes and rise of two country girls having an unhappy fate in the capital. The country miss having lost honour and disowned, Gyöngyi Kártély plays the violin in the ladies orchestra in a night club, the orphan peasant girl Vica Torma works on a construction site as a mortar mixer. Gyöngyi saves Vica from the vexation of István Csiszár chief engineer, she takes the girl, coming from the same village as her, mothers her, make her learn, dress, gets a new job. Vica, however, interferes with Gyöngyi's father and arranges with him to support his daughter financially.
