Movies the giraffe watched in 2022: May (35 movies items)"Re-watch - May 28th I made a point to watch this with my daughter this time around, & she really enjoyed it. My rating dropped slightly as I don't think it's quite great, but it's still a solidly entertaining film with excellent effects & a refreshingly uncommon subject. As long as André Øvredal keeps making films, I'll be there to support him."

Film Journal 2015 (112 movies items)" Even though the Trolls (trolls!) were really well-done, it was a shaky-cam found-footage film that didn't keep me as entertained as say-Cloverfield. Maybe it was because they spoke Norwegian and I was very tired. Loved the trolls, though."

The movie didn't use the cheap jumpscares (except at the end of the credits which I watched throught since they had Kvelertak playing during them) and didn't have that much of running around camera pointing to a ground and shaking all over the place. “Since I kept hearing some pretty good things about this flick, I thought I might as well check it out. By now, you might think that the found-footage gimmick has been done to death but, apparently, the film makers still manage to find some way to be creative with this concept. Indeed, in this case, we get the opportunity to go all the way to Norway to follow some kind of troll hunter during the shooting of a mockumentary. Eventually, the end result was not bad and, above all, I liked the way they managed to mix comedy and horror which can be a tricky thing to do. Still, even though it was a decent effort, I can’t say I was really blown away by the damned thing though.
