"23.10. Jos Etelän kaipuuta pitäisi kuvailla yhdellä adjektiivilla olisi se 80-lukulainen. Tämä johtuu pitkälti sumukoneen honkkarimaisesta ylikäytöstä. Elokuvan tempo ja kaukainen tunnelmointikuvasto muistuttavat hyvin paljon Theo Angelopoulosia. Myös elokuvan eteneminen useissa eri aikatasoissa, totuudessa ja kuvitelmissa on hyvinkin tuttua enkelipulliaista. Leffan alku on suorastaan nerokas näyttäessään vanhojen herrojen kadunvarsipumppua laulamassa menneistä ajoista kaiholla. "
