“The purest and most satisfying Jason Statham action vehicle in years, 2024's The Beekeeper is a delirious blast of competent, action-packed, unpretentious fun, with director David Ayer (Fury, End of Watch) and screenwriter Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium) using intriguing John Wick-esque lore to spice up an old-fashioned One Man Army premise. Playing out with the zest and spirit of action films from the '80s and '90s, it tells a simplistic story, and the screenplay is not airtight, but the execution is first-rate, with Ayer again proving himself a competent action craftsman.
