A bad movie

Posted : 4 years, 9 months ago on 6 July 2019 12:56

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Peter Hyams, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, unfortunately, it turned out to be so much weaker than I expected and it was probably the weakest movie I have seen so far from this director (unsurprisingly, he hasn't directed anything else since then). I mean, of course, with such a direct-to-DVD release starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, I knew pretty much right from the start that it would be some B action flick. In fact, Van Damme was actually not bad, it was actually fun to see him playing some French Canadian gangster and he obviously had some fun with this part. Unfortunately, he was pretty much the only thing that did work though. Indeed, if Tom Everett Scott was fine playing a mild-mannered forest ranger, I was however not convincing at all as a seasoned ex-Navy SEAL soldier. To make things worse, the story was just terribly generic and tedious. On top of that, even if it was a rather short movie, nothing at all happened through some very long stretches of time making the damned thing even more boring than it already was. Anyway, to conclude, I usually try to avoid such lame action flicks starring Van Damme and I will probably keep to do so following this lame attempt.ย

Enemies Closer review

Posted : 10 years, 1 month ago on 2 March 2014 01:33

Enemies Closer is pretty awkward and mildly entertaining. JCVD kind of reminded me of a retarded pre-Joker in this silly thriller. He is pretty over the top in ridiculousness and that hairstyle is one of the scariest things I have ever scene. Why the hell did he agree to that? Tom Everett Scott, Orlando Jones, and JCVD's son Kris Van Varenburg are also in this. Now Kris is only like a sad clone of JCVD as he is barely ever given more than a lame henchman in all the films he is in. Another thing is that he usually only acts in films with his father which doesn't really expand his acting horizon. Also I'm not entirely sure who Linzey Cocker is, but she is hot even with a strange last name. The acting is low-level and the plot sucks. The only thing cool is some cool actions scenes and some cool death scenes. The ending sucks and is ridiculous. Only watch it if you are a JCVD addict and need your fix. Other than that you should really avoid this.
