let I say first that I have a hard time finding the "entertainment" value in seeing people exploited, abused, oppressed, etc. in any way. although I understand that this movie is a fictional depiction of historical events, I found it disturbing because of my attitudes toward people(s) being forced to ... read more

" When his secret bride is executed for assaulting an English soldier whom tried to rape her, a commoner begins a revolt and leads Scottish warriors against the cruel English tyrant who rules Scotland with an iron-fist. Based on the story of William Wallace, the movie was a commercial success and critically successfully, all thought some felt it was “too violent” and “languid”. This wouldn’t be the first time, that a Mel Gibson movie would garner this level of unease. Some felt, th"

" "They may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!"In the 1995 epic "Braveheart," this battle cry is the final word spoken by Mel Gibson's William Wallace—his executioner expected him to beg for mercy. This final act of disobedience is often parodied by people who finally make it through a difficult endeavor."
