Michael was born in Lowell, an old Mill town in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts also known for being the birthplace of beat poet Jack Kerouac. He developed a passion for drawing at a young age and became a very prolific artist. He graduated top of his class in High School and was voted Most Artistic. Michael also enjoyed playing music, and had been in many local bands as a drummer and bass guitarist. In 1988 a band he was in achieved enough local success in Boston that they got the attention of a music producer in Los Angeles. Michael and his band spend several weeks in LA recording, but their efforts were never picked up
