Wave One - Disneyland USA

This set contains various episodes from the Walt Disney Anthologies (commonly known as The Wonderful World of Disney) that take place within Disneyland, including the very first episode from the series. The show was originally meant to promote Disneyland project which was at the time Disney's greatest ambition and passion and it needed money. Show was hosted by Walt Disney himself and it was a daring move from Disney towards television for this was the first series by any major movie studios of Hollywood, for they feared that television would be the end of studio system, which eventually proved to be quite true.

In a way Disneyland was for Walt a way to flee from the heavy duties of 'today' and dull weeks at the studios.
Wave One - The Complete Davy Crockett

This set contains all the five original Davy Crockett episodes from Walt Disney's Disneyland television series. The Davy Crockett special episode was first ment to be just one time deal, but huge popularity convinced Disney to make more episodes. Fess Parker's (In picture) potrayal as the legendary frontiers man made him an overnight phenomenon in States and for a while he was almost as famous as any movie star at time. The craze ended almost as soon as the series and Fess was typecasted from that moment to play "the guy wearing a coonskin cap..." Set also contains some extramaterial including interview with both Fess Parker, the actor of Crockett and Paul F. Anderson, author of the book: The Davy Crockett Craze

Wave Two - Mickey Mouse in Black and White Vol. 1

This set contains first half of Disney's Black & White Mickey Mouse cartoons including the very first appearance of Mickey on film. Many of these early cartoons may seem quite inelegant compared to many cartoons made in later years, but they are quite interesting still to say atleast. Most of these contain some elements that modern viewer might consider unappropriate but alas world was different then. Many of the later cartoons on this set also feature such characters as Pluto, Goofy and Donald, who later would usurp the position of greatest star in Disney studios.

Mickey, Donald & Goofy. The jolly bunch. It's already clear that both Goofy and Donald are slowly raising above Mickey as stars of the studio.
Wave Two - Complete Goofy

This set contains practically the whole career of Goofy from the very first solo appearance all the way to the 60s. One of the Disney studios most popular characters in a way made a career in various 'How to-shorts' in which we learn to ski, skydive, drive... etc. Much of the popularity behind Goofy's character goes obviously to that legendary voice provided by Pinto Colvig. Ironically Colvig resigned from Disney short after Goofy's standalone cartoon run started and most of these cartoons use stock audio from previous pictures.

Pinto Colvig, the father of famour Goofy holler. He left the studios just when Goofy's career started just to return years later. Pinto voiced Goofy after returning until his death in 1967.

Wave Two - Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studios

This set contains both live action and animation films from within the Walt Disney animation studios. Some of the films gives us a tour around the studios as such and some gives an inner look on the making of cartoons and on the process as a whole. This set contains the now famous introduction piece Reluctant Dragon in which actor Robert Benchley tours around Burbank Studios and tries to sell Walt an idea to make a film with the same name. The set is packed again with bonus material as well including complete history of the Studios according to Leonard Maltin and rare interview of long-time Disney storyman Joe Grant.

Where it all began. The Hyperion Street Studios before Walt and Company moved to bigger facilities at Burbank.
Wave Three - Mickey Mouse in Living Color Vol. 2

This set contains the last of the classic Mickey Mouse cartoons. It's by now clear that Mickey's stardom in shorts has come to an end and other stars have taken over. The quirkyness and all-american character wasn't anymore so appealing as it was in 20s and 30s. Mickey had lost it's charm. Walt Disney said himself that as long as he is the director of Disney Company they would make Mickey Mouse cartoons and yet after 1953 Mickey wasn't seen in Disney shorts in over 30 years. This set includes those couple comeback films made in the 90s.

Wave Three - On the Front Lines

This set contains all the propaganda and education shorts and films about World War II. US Army contracted Disney's facilities and staff to do these films. Films didn't generate any income. Wave Three - Tomorrowland: Disney in Space and Beyond

This set contains again some various episodes from Disney Anthology Series concerning the Tomorrowland in Disneyland park. The subject vary from Mars and Beyond all the way to the atom and it's brief history. Most notable addition on this disc is probably the EPCOT episode, in which Walt himself talks about an experimental community he was building into Florida. This project unfortunately never see the light of day on his lifetime. Also as the rest of the bunch this set contains tons of extra material including two interviews: Another with Ray Bradbury and second with Marty Sklar, longtime collaborator of Disney's.

Spaceship Earth in EPCOT, Disney World Florida. Opened to public in 1982
Wave Four - Mickey Mouse in Black & White Vol. 2

The second half of the B&W Mickey mouse shorts. Most of these as in the previous set contains some pretty obscene humor. All the remaining cast, including Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Black Pete are also present of course. As an interesting supplement there's also a documentary about Mickey Mouse memorabilia collector. Wave Four - Complete Pluto Vol. 1

It wasn't until the beginning of the 30s when Pluto got his first star billing on a Disney short. This is a list of every DVD-edition from Walt Disney's Treasures series, which contains all of the studio's classic short films and then some.

For my honest opinion this series could just be the most important stuff ever printed on digital format or atleast one of such and these sets are a must have for any animation and especially Disney fan and of course these are also a great fun to watch still.

This list took me only just short 2,5 years to make, so I hope somebody atleast finds this somewhat useful. Yes, Iam just that lazy.
