"Life is pain . . . . . . or at least it is for Jason. Born with a rare central nervous disorder, every sensation is pain. Every sound, scent, texture, flavor, even every breath, brings nothing but mind-numbing pain. His days are spent in a padded room addicted to every narcotic known to man. At night he is sealed in a sensory deprivation bag to block out the entire world. Pain is all Jason has ever known about the world. Until the arrival of Yogi Arjunda of the Temple of Physical Enlightenment. He claims to be able to help Jason, to be able to give him a life of more than agony. But the treatment leaves Jason changed and he wants to share what he learned. He wants to share his pain . . . From hardcore horror master Wrath James White, comes a novella of pain, pleasure, and transcendental splatter."

Horror Sub-Genre: The nature of pain, suffering and medical weirdness...

Pin (2011)
"Young Leon and Ursula had little except each other and pin...Mother was driven by a psychotic need to clean. Father was consumed by his medical practice. But he understood the sensual hunger growing inside his children's young bodies. He knew they could help each other answer, "The Need." Father had Science and Reason, and he had Pin.

Pin who answered all the children's questions in a voice like father--a clever trick, a brilliant illusion.
But then Mother and Father died in an accident, leaving just the three: Quiet Leon, beautiful and frightened Ursula, and wise, implacable Pin. God help anyone who threatened their perfect trinity. And God help anyone who didn't believe in Pin."

Horror Sub-Genre: Crazy parents create crazy children...
"An intense sadistic tale of how one man will save the world through sterilization. When Todd was just a child, he learned that sometimes it was necessary to sterilize or euthanize animals in order to keep their population from growing too rapidly. It was the humane thing to do, the best thing for the environment. Yet, every day at his job at the Welfare Department, Todd sees the dregs of humanity multiplying unchecked, overburdening the earth with a tidal wave of waste, abuse, and cruelty. But if he can convince them not to reproduce, if he can convince everyone to voluntarily sterilize themselves, then he might just prevent the coming population explosion. And those who can't be convinced... Population Zero is the story of an environmental activist named Todd Hammerstein who is on a mission to save the planet. In just 50 years the population of the planet is expected to double. But not if Todd can help it. From Wrath James White, the celebrated master of sex and splatter, comes a tale of environmentalism, drugs, and genital mutilation. "

Horror Sub-Genre: Wanna-be Nazi trying to control the population...

Resurrection Dreams - Richard Laymon
"Vicki was the only one to stand up for Melvin, but even she had to admit he'd gone to far when he dug up a body and then tried to bring it back to life with the aid of a car battery. Years later, and now released from a mental institution, Melvin is back and after Vicki - or rather her body."

Horror Sub-Genre: Crazy lunatic on the loose.

This is a list of unusual, lesser-known horror novels. I will include a brief summary (from Amazon) with each book. I am only including books here that I think are weird, strange and unusual enough that I would be interested in at least checking them out. No Stephen King or Dead Koontz on this list, just because they are so well known.

List started Wed, Nov 30, 2011. I believe this will take a while before there is a large number of books here, but it will be more carefully selected than the items on my other list, "For the horror lover..."

Also, with very few exceptions, there will be no Vampire novels here. I want to get back to obscure, weird horror. Vampires are just too big right now.
