The Great Quarterbacks

Not until the late 1960s were there a small string of starting NFL quarterbacks who were African-American. While there were a few black college QBs—especially from historically black schools—those players were often utilized by NFL teams at different positions, such as receiver or defensive back. Therefore, there has been quite a lag in the number of black quarterbacks among the "Greats."
