Movies Watched in 2011

I personally didn't really fancy seeing this film at all. I'd heard so much hype about it and all the awards buzz made be weary. Saying all that I still went along with an open mind and I've got to say "I loved every minute of it", great performances from all the cast especially Geoffrey Rush as Lionel. Catch it in the Cinema whilst you can.

A Fantastic performance from Christian Bale, again completely throwing himself into the Character.
Mark Wahlberg was entertaining but for me Bale stole the show.

20/02/2011 - Absolutely Awesome!!
Loved this flick from Start to End, brilliantly written for the Geek in us all. I watched this with my wife you definitely isn't a geek, once the first 15mins of comic-con was over she woke up and loved it! 5/5 or 10/10

07/03/2011 - Went to see this again!!! as part of Movie Club. Still Awesome!!

Wooden Acting and Predictable as hell.
3D was OK but not really needed, but to be fair this is probably the reason most people went to see it along with this tag line "James Cameron Presents".

27/02/2011 - Not a bad film, a typical Rom-Com Sunday afternoon no brainer. Kept us entertained for 1h40mins. Nice to see Natalie Portman do something different.

06/03/2011 - It was ok, nothing mind-blowing. I think I was expecting something better, entertaining enough but was missing something. It was kind of like it was trying to be inception crossed with something else and that something else in my mind was City of Angels.
All in all not a bad film, but I won't be seeing it again. 6/10

06/03/2011 - We weren't directly setting off to see this but when we had 45mins to wait for "Unknown" or as we expected it to be "Taken 2" we thought we'd go see this instead.

Now I know it's designed for kids so only half of this was going to appeal to me, you know the Adult humour mixed in which goes completely above kids heads.

It was a fun enough film with plenty of action and one liners.....very well animated, I still find it amazing how far computer animation has come, the water effects looked fantastic.

Guess that's my review..........

Nice to see the invasion from the eyes of the Man on the Ground, kept me entertained fairly fast paced. Would I watch it again? Probably. 7/10

21/03/2011 - OMG, we weren't disappointed, we laughed from start to finish!

Laugh I here you say, isn't this an Action / Thriller?
Yes it is, but there's just something about Liam "Taken" Neeson running around a European city that cracks us up.

The plot sees Neeson's character have a Car Accident only to awake to find someone has "taken" his identity! Classic! and no one believes him!
He then spends the next hour trying to prove he is who he says he is whilst been chased etc.

We thought we were going to get "Taken 2" but it turned out a little different. Still the same old bad acting and unbelievable pairing of Neeson (58) & on screen wife (33).

Can't wait for the comedy feast that will be "Taken 2" next year!

6/10 10/10 for laughter!

04/04/2011 - I liked this film, my wife not so much.
I thought the Idea was great, I did guess early on a few plot twists and turns but overall a good entertaining movie.
Won't say much more on it now as I don't want to give too much away.
Overall 7/10

18/04/11 - Wow, what a long music video that was! That being said it was a brilliant music video!

Whoever choose the soundtrack needs a round of applause. Top Notch!

Can't wait to checkout the CD.

Visually amazing with a kick ass soundtrack, I will be watching again as I'm sure there's loads I've missed first time around.

Loved the opening 5/10 mins, not a word spoken, all told through amazing visuals and a great music.

17/04/11 - Well I had to see it didn't I!?! You can't watch all the others and not see this one.
I really enjoyed this one, took a new path but with a familiar story, updating the world in which Ghostface lives with todays technology just like the original did with Mobile Phones.
Of course if leads you down the route of it's him it's her but in the end delivers the all important oooh didn't think it was..............no spoilers :)

28/05/11 - Loved it!!! All those reviewers (in the UK) which have given this 2* are talking out of their a$$. Yeah it's the same underlying story but that's what we wanted!! More of the same in a new environment! Total worked too, laughed my ass off.
Don't know what happened to the Tattoo artist Cameo of Liam Neeson....anyone?

Great flick for a load of laughs, the other half loved it too! (as did she the first!)

Go see it enjoy it for what it is!!! Awesome :)

Not a bad reboot for the series, leaves the story just a the right part to develop the story forward with Professor X and Magneto. Loved the Cameo from Wolverine, “Excuse Me” – “F@ck You”. Lol

21/06/2011 - Wasn't sure about this one but I'm glad we went to see this over Bad Teacher and Bridesmaids. I think the acting in the movie was brilliant. Mel Gibson was spot on and this is probably down to channelling his own issues.

What a great movie, took me right back to been 12 or 13. Reminded me of watching Stand By Me and Goonies, a time when there we're no worries in your life.

Loved the Kids making the Zombie movie and how the kids just made the story effortless.

20/08/11 - A bit of a cheat this entry as I watched at home on Blu-ray, missed the theatrical release as it was limited.

A good indie movie, well that was the feel of it. The 1st third of the movie was a little slow but by the surprising action packed 3rd act I was hooked. A great example of non main stream non big budget movies can be.

I enjoyed the movie, although my other half slept for the middle act. It was a slow build up to main event, Cowboys v Aliens!!

She did however enjoy the end.

again another movie this year that I won't be running back to see or purchase.

I'm a fan of the series so I had to see the movie. The wife on the other hand wasn't a fan of the series but I dragged her along anyway :)

Result: She actually really enjoyed it and I did too. Really fun movie, yeah it's not a cinematic masterpiece, it's a long episode but what were people expecting? It'll be a worth addition to any collection when it arrived on home purchase. Boy Humour at its best. Go and see it.

What a lovely film, great performances form everyone including the CGI Apes. Loved the familiar faces of the Apes, (Dr. Zaius) for one. Obviously the Ape in the film will be a ancestor of him but you know what I mean.

Again I loved the original (1968) and was interested into how they would tell the story of the Rise of the Apes (and the fall of man). I wasn't disappointed, everything was played out brilliantly. I won't add any spoilers, just keep watching after the credits role.

06/09/11 - I wanted to see this since Fright Night [1985] was one of my favs from that era.

Well what we have here is a rough copy of the original, the same key characters but the story they take is only loosely the same as the original, now this isn't a bad thing, nobody wants to see a scene by scene remake.

I was entertained by this version, however I couldn't see the benefit of the 3D in fact I would say it irritated me.

I was a bit uneasy with the thought of this movie. The content matter was something I thought shouldn't be in a comedy.
However this movie great. Touching & Funny.
Would recommend to anyone.
