The Big Kahuna (2000)
Suffered through on a flight from Seattle to Hawaii in 2000. This borefest holds the honor of being the very first movie that I ever watched on an airplane.

Frequency (2000)
Along with other passengers, I watched 'Frequency' on the way back to Seattle from Hawaii (in September, 2000). Not the greatest movie ever, but I much preferred it to 'The Big Kahuna'!

Continuing my pattern of watching boring movies on airplanes, I saw this one in March 2004, on a flight from Seattle to Texas (for that years SXSW festival!). The festival was fun. This movie? Not so much.

Cheaper by the Dozen (2003)
This was the movie that they showed on the way *back* to Seattle from Somewhere, Texas (Dallas? The SXSW festival was held in Austin, of course; but my traveling companions and I first took some short connecting flight from Austin to another Texas locale, before we continued on to Seattle).
Anyhow, I remember even less about 'Cheaper by the Dozen' than I do about the flight from Austin to wherever it was in Texas that we caught our flight home. That's because not only was 'Cheaper by the Dozen' cutesy, it was DULL!

I saw this masterpiece in July, 2006, on a flight home to Sea-Tac from New York City (or rather, Newark; my sister and I took a red-eye flight to Newark, so we didn't get a movie on our first flight). To give this silly thing credit, it was at least less boring than most of the other movies I'd watched on airplanes up to this point.
However, "less boring" certainly doesn't equal good! 'She's the Man' might have passed the time; but it did so in a very STUPID way, and I can't honestly grant it more than one-and-a-half stars.

Marley & Me (2008)
I believe this was the first movie that I watched on my very first international flight (my husband and I flew from Seattle to Amsterdam for our honeymoon in May of 2009). Normally, I'm not a fan of Owen Wilson OR Jennifer Aniston, but I didn't mind them in 'Marley And Me' (I even sort of liked Wilson in a few scenes, although I didn't change my overall opinion of him. But to his credit, he does a nice job in the "goodbye" scene. *sniffle*)
Plus, Marley is cute. This isn't necessarily one that I'd watch again, but it's still a good movie overall.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
I wasn't all that interested in 'Slumdog Millionaire' to begin with, but it was available as one of the movie choices on my flight (the same one from Seattle to Amsterdam referenced above) and there weren't a lot of other selections to choose from. Since this one had just won the Oscar for "Best Picture", I decided that I might as well see what all of the fuss was about.
All I can say after watching 'Slumdog Millionaire' is that I'm still not sure what all of the fuss was about.

After watching two other movies on my long flight from Seattle to Amsterdam, I decided that I needed to sleep; so I intentionally searched my available film choices for something to cure my insomnia, and settled on 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.'
It served its purpose well.

Taken (2008)
The film selections on my flight from Amsterdam *back* to Seattle (after my honeymoon) hadn't changed at all when my husband and I flew home two weeks later, so I was "stuck" watching movies that I'd already seen before.
I first saw 'Taken' in the theater with my brother only a few months before I watched it on the plane; however, I didn't really mind watching it a second time on my flight home. It's a rather "mindless" thriller (and Liam Neeson's character is immortal to the point of being ridiculous) but it moves very quickly -- and while it might be "mindless", it's also mindlessly entertaining!

The Wrestler (2008) (2009)
'The Wrestler' is another movie that I first saw in the theater not long before I watched it for a second time on an airplane (my husband and I had gone to see it a few months before our honeymoon).
But since (again) my choices on the return flight from Amsterdam were limited, I decided that I'd rather watch a good movie (even if I'd seen it just a few months earlier) than some crappy thing. So -- since 'The Wrestler' is indeed a very good movie, it was the second film that I watched on my flight home (although I admit, I fast-forwarded through some of the scenes that are more difficult to watch, including the graphic "wrestling match" scenes -- ouch!).

Hairspray (2007)
This was the third movie that I tried to watch on my return flight home to Sea-Tac from Amsterdam Schiphol (in May of 2009).
I say "tried to watch" because 'Hairspray' was so stupid and annoying (not to mention boring) that I eventually gave up on it (and moved on to random TV show episodes, or decided to just listen to music for the rest of the flight home or something).
I should add that I've never seen the original 'Hairspray' (and I don't really want to), but I certainly HOPE that it's better than the 2007 remake!
