Simplicissimus was a satirical German weekly magazine published from 1896 to 1967, with a break from 1945 to 1954. Its name was after the protagonist of Hans Jacob Christoffel von Grimmelhausen's novel Die aubenteuerliche Simplicissimus Teutsch (the adventurous Simplicissimus Teutsch, 1668).
Simplicissimus gained increasing popularity from its beginning to the 1930s.
