First rate classic, and one of the leading precursors to the modern slasher popularized by Carpenter's Halloween.
Mark's rating:
Gremlins (1984)
Classic horror/dark comedy mixture still holds up reasonably well, though it's clearly a child of the 1980s.
Mark's rating:
Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
A pretty basic slasher elevated by the controversial murderous Santa angle.
Mark's rating:
Maybe a little overrated, but an interesting low-budget film nonetheless.
Mark's rating:
I wonder how many people have mistakenly rented this thinking that it's the heartwarming family tale staring Michael Keaton.
Mark's rating:
A couple of excellent segments, but eventually runs out of steam. Some great stuff, but as a whole, not as great.
Mark's rating:
Black Christmas (2006)
Heartless remake of the classic nonetheless has a couple of interesting elements. Or not. Falls into the classic mistake of attempting to explain the killer and his background.
Mark's rating:
Some interesting elements and I suppose a bit of an interesting ending, but ultimately not very worthwhile.
