Favorite movies

One of the most original breathtaking films ever, it never ceases to hold my attention and admeration every time I watch it. It's uber violent, controversal, funny and completly out there. I'm a big fan of japanese films and this was the film that started that craze.40 or so students are forced to fight each other till the death untill only one remains, one of the taglines is "could you kill your best friend" the story follows shuya nanahara and noriko thou it handles sub storys and characters really well. The two friends mentioned gain a powerful allie but maybe all is not what it seems. In a contest where you can trust no one and where some are not who they seem. Fantastic characters(special mention to mitsuko and kazou my two personel fave characters - see pics) I wont give anymore away but if you haven't seen it and like brilliant film making and movies then get on it!

Ed Nortan stars with maybe one of the greatest performances I have ever seen. Theres not much I can say without giving it away so all I'll mention is he makes you believe and for a moment maybe even agree with what he's preaching and then he completly turns it on its head. Its very scary to think this sort of thing and these sort of people excist but it makes you seriouly consider the strength of your own beliefs and values. If you like hard hitting dramasthen I recomend this masterpiece. Also great supporting work from edward furlong.

Cult classic, I'm not gonna harp on about it, amazing.

Outstanding film, charlize theron is chillingly accurate. Brilliant acting all round. Has me in tears everytime.

Simply put this film is brilliant, flawless. Epic tale of going from having nothing to having it all and then messing it all up. Amazing performances all round but of course Pacino owns this film. Such a tragic tale I find myself rooting from Tony in his early days and then once the resturant scene comes about you know his days/hours are numberd lol. Can't rate this film enough. A cult classic.

This korean gem is a must watch.A man is held captive in a room for 15 years with no explination why, the film follows him after his escape trying to fit the pieces together with one of the biggest movie twists of all time which I wont ruin for anyone that hasn't seen it.Its beautiful to watch and so well done in every aspect. Also one of the greatest fight scenes ever done with a hammer! I wont give anymore away but if you haven't seen it already get on youtube and watch it!

In my humble opinion Jim Carreys greatest performance, thou its actually Kate Winslett who steals the film and provides most of the comedy moments as well. Great supporting cast (Elijah Wood deserves a special mention) Just brilliant in all areas, gets a bit confussing the first time round so well worth a few watches.

Jonathan Rhys meyers is Brian Slade a 70's music and fashion icon untill he fakes his own death and falls downward in a tumbling spiral of drugs and affairs.Several years later Christian Bale plays a reporter who was a follower of slades fashion and music, he must go back to his teenage years to discover the truth of slades dissapearance, ewen mcgregor plays the common denominater between the two. One of the greatest soundtracks from a film ever and great performances from Meyers, Bale and Mcgregor. Brilliant film.

Brilliantly done, wasn't a fan first time I watched it few years ago just didn't get it, but after rewatching it a couple of years ago I smacked myself round the head for being so retarded and ignoring this films brilliance. Plus Bread Pitt....looking good!

Angelina Jolie steals the show in this film, mainly all female cast. Based on true events. A young girls life changes when she is sent to a mental institution and struggles to find herself and rebels with fellow patient lisa (jolie) also great supporting roles from whoopi goldberg, brittany murphy and jared leto.

A beautiful film with amazing performances all round, Heath and Jake are outstanding as secret lovers ennis and jack who meet on brokeback when there young but society wont let them live happily together and only reunite every few years and live seperate lives with wives and kids. Its follows them seperatly struggling to cope without each other and the consequences of their public lives when they reunite. Be warned its a tear jerker but well worth the watch.

Only recently discoverd the tragic tale of Alexander Supertramp (yes it inspired my listal name lol) the young guy who left his family, possesions and money behind to find himself on the road. I'm not able to do this film justice by trying to explain it but its very moving, funny, inspirational, I believe you can take something positive away with you after watching this film. All performances are brilliant, thou Emile Hirsch and Catherine Keener steel the show for me and Vince Vaughn actually shows some talent in this (soz im not a fan)But yeah if you haven't seen it and fancy something special then give this a go.

It was this film that got me into Johnny Cash, Phoenix is amazing and has got Cash down to a tea likewise Reese Witherspoon is outstanding as long time love interest June Carter. Its the scenes between the two of them that makes the film so special for me, so many subtle moments between them really catching one of the sweetest love stories ,on the screen. Great soundtrack as well. A great semi biopic film.

No this isn't just here because everyone puts it in their top ten, this is actually one of my fave films. Nolen for me makes Batman like how it should be, dark, gritty and realistic. I mean within reason these things could actually happen (Ok so Joker would probs be shot on sight in the real world....maybe batman as well lol) but you see what I'm trying to get at, it's very realistic more so then any other Batmans. It's brilliant performances again all round(Maggie is preferable over Katie but still they could have got someone so much more better as the main female lead) Of course the late Heath Ledger who is perfect as Joker and brings so much depth to the charecter (for me far more preferable then Jack Nicholson, who's Joker I was never a big fan of anyway) The action scenes are brilliantly done. My only pet hate is the now infamous 'bales batman voice' bit OTT for me in some scenes but works well in others. Overall brilliant film. If you have never given Batman a go, watch this!

IMO Ellen Page's best performance yet. A film that keeps you guessing and changing your mind as to who your rooting for. Its more or less just Page and Patrick Stewart who is equaly brilliant. You never really know whats going on and who's going to snap next. Its brilliantly shot especilly as most of it takes place in a house. I don't want to say to much in case I give something away to those who may not of seen it. I strongly suggest you give it a go if you haven't, you may be surprised.
