Quantum Leap (1989)
"Sam never made it home."
The series ends with Benson and Gatling watching the election returns on TV…and that's it
Alcatraz (2012) (2012)
In what would turn out to be Alcatraz’s final episode, Sarah Jones’ main character Rebecca Madsen supposedly dies (spoiler alert) and it is revealed that the show-premise phenomenon occurring at the prison is happening all over the country. Two big cliffhangers, zero resolution.
The ending of Angel was no joke: Cordelia was dead, Fred was overtaken by Illyria, Wesley was dead, and Lorne went his own way after killing Lindsay. Then, just as Angel, Illyria, Gunn, and Spike are overrun by demons and dragons, etc. in an alley, all fans see is Angel swinging his sword toward the screen as it fades to black.
ALF getting captured by an Alien Task Force.
The final scene of this series, which only lasted one season, ended with Lily (Caroline Dhavernas) discovering Mateo (Nicholas Rodriguez) lying on the ground after being shot, as his family’s cocaine field burned in the background.
After four years, Nashville's last moments saw Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) in peril: The plane she's on loses contact after sending out a distress signal. Both Avery and the viewers are left wondering about the singer's fate.
Agent Carter (2015)
So there are no plans for a third season in the near future, which is a pity, because when we last saw Jack, he was bleeding to death after being shot by a mystery man who also stole a heavily-redacted personnel file on Carter.
The series ended with the show's "big bad" setting off a photostimulator bomb in a train station, leaving everyone unconscious
Unfortunately, the finale of TSCC sees John Connor jump into a future that has never heard of him, so as it stands, TSCC essentially undid the entire Terminator franchise
My Name Is Earl (2005)
Fans never got to see if Earl finished his list, or who Earl Jr.'s biological father was.
Las Vegas (2003)
In the series finale, pregnant Delinda starts bleeding. It was rumored that Delinda and her husband Danny would have a cameo on "Knight Rider" to reveal the outcome of the jeopardized pregnancy, but that show was canceled, too. A bigger cliffhanger was when, during the funeral for casino owner A.J. Cooper, who died in a plane crash, Cooper actually strolls in and reveals he isn't dead.
The Dead Zone (2002)
The season six finale reveals that Johnny's father is still alive; the suggestion that the armageddon Johnny has visions of was at least partially caused by him; and the revelation that Johnny's son may have inherited his father's gift.
Dark Angel (2000)
The series ends with the military preparing to invade, and the super-soldiers preparing to stand their ground. Several novels were written following the show's cancelation, which fleshed out the mythology that would have been explored in a third season.
At the end of the season, the station owner bought a new radio station in a small town in New Hampshire, with the hopes of moving the show setting and starting anew. But by then it was too late, and the series was canceled.
Sydney discovers a new virtual reality realm, VR.7, which has trapped her mother and the sister who was supposed to have died in childhood. Sydney is left in a coma.
he fourth season of "Lois & Clark" featured the titular pair finally getting married. In what turned out to be the series finale, the couple found a Kryptonian baby left for them
Forever Knight (1992)
The series ends with a fade to black during a ritual which may let Nick recapture his humanity, leaving people to wonder if Nick turned his human companion, Natalie, into a vampire, let her die, or died himself.
They didn't have a chance to write a big finale, but they did blow their budget (and then some) on a lush, time-traveling finale.
Mork & Mindy (1978)
The Robin Williams classic ended with Mork and Mindy getting married, the world discovering that Mork was an alien, Mindy's home getting destroyed, and the pair getting lost in a time vortex.
Among the cliffhangers, one character was threatening to kill his son and wife; another character was about to be executed by a Communist firing squad; and another character was being ambushed by thugs.
They just ended and left us hanging as to what became of our beloved characters
