A great book with lessons and insight throughout.

Butcher & Blackbird (The Ruinous Love Trilogy #1)... - Brynne Weaver
This is a very dark book. Basically a serial killer love story. But I loved it and plan on reading the rest in the series.
Just be aware there is gore and sexual content.
Victorian Fantasy's rating:

A Curious Beginning - Deanna Raybourn
This is a fun Victorian mystery/thriller and well written.
However, I would recommend reading it and not listening to the audiobook version as the narrator makes the main character sound very annoying.
Victorian Fantasy's rating:

The Invocations - Krystal Sutherland
While there were elements of this book I didn’t care for, the story itself was pretty good. It was dark and creative.
A good book if you’re curious about the life of Zelda (and her life with Scott).
I read it after watching the show about her and wanted to know more about her later life that wasn’t included in it. It did not disappoint.
Victorian Fantasy's rating:

House of Hunger - Alexis Henderson
This is an interesting twist on the legend of Elizabeth Bathory!
Victorian Fantasy's rating:

Brother - Ania Ahlborn
What to say about this book?
I tried it because it was recommended to me. At first I was a little bored. The beginning is very slow, nothing happens.
Then slowly the characters grew on me and I became interested.
However, the inclusion of killing animals by the boys (budding serial killers - I get it) was just too much for me.
As a story it wasn’t bad, but it’s not my usual style and I wouldn’t recommend mainly because of the descriptions of harming animals.
Victorian Fantasy's rating:

This was an interesting read. Though not my favorite style of writing it was a good story. The main character reminds me a little of American Psycho’s Patrick Bateman in a subtle way.
Victorian Fantasy's rating:

Dark carnival is all about Todd Browning’s life and career. It begins at his childhood and his experience with side shows and the “odd” that were such a great influence to him, and touches on his personal experiences and relationships as well delving into his many film masterpieces.
Recommended read for any fans of his work.
Victorian Fantasy's rating:

The Pretty Ones - Ania Ahlborn
Another book by Ania Ahlborn that I tried out.
This one was better than Brother since there was no animals involved.
It takes place during the Son of Sam murders, following a plain Jane who feels she’s an outcast. What is she really? Definitely more than people see.
