2001: A Space Odyssey - Arthur C. Clarke
2001: A Space Odyssey is my Second Favourite film. However brilliant the film may be, it cannot compensate for the book's lack of mystery and wonder. I do admire the novel, but it doesn't hold a candle to the film.

What a Brilliant Piece of Non-Fiction! Another intelligent, matter-of-fact and engaging account of the humans and their conflicts behind the masterpieces of the New Hollywood Generation. Peter Biskind never fails to engage the reader and he never succumbs to self indulgence. This is a very profound account of a very tumultuous decade.

I read this book when I was attempting to write a screenplay. Although I never did write my screenplay, I still found this book insightful and engaging, if not problematic. I don't think that cinema can be reduced to a formula.

The Catcher in the Rye - J. D. Salinger
This is an amazing novel with a complex, introspective protagonist that never ceases to emotionally engage and provide an intelligent commentary on modern society. When I first read this when I was 14, I personally identified with this brilliant piece of literature and its protagonist as I was experiencing an existential crisis at the time. This novel spoke to me as a youth and a human being.

I read this non-fiction book twice last year, it is engaging and intelligently written. The subject matter was partially responsible for my enjoyment but the prose is simply brilliant.

Of Mice and Men: Unabridged (Penguin Modern Classics)... - John Steinbeck
Another amazing piece of literature to which I was allocated in English. This emotional piece of Literature about the prejudices that accompany social class is vivid, profound and incisive. It could have been treacly and sentimental. However, Steinbeck's writing style is restrained and this provides an emotional punch.

A Very insightful observation of Natural Selection, and an indisputably controversial one at that. I found this book to be a fascinating and engaging read.
