Perhaps because this is one of the "less weird" David Lynch films, or because Nick Cage looked like an interesting young actor, or because Defoe is so crazy. Who knows, somehow this film always keeps me tuned in.

Top what? I decided to list all the 9 and 10 star rated movies (based on my own ratings) of each year instead of trying to make a list of exactly 10. Some years may have 1 and some may have 20 in the list. It depends on the amount of good movies I saw from that year - but even more it hopefully reflects the amount of decent movies that were actually made in a particular year.

I have included a small explanation for people who may not have heard of the film.
