Their third studio album Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, released in 2000, continued the band's success. The album sold 1.05 million copies in its first week, making it the fastest-selling rock album ever, breaking the record held for 7 years by Pearl Jam's Vs. Following the departure of Wes Borland in 2001, Mike Smith was brought in for the fourth studio album Results May Vary, released in 2003. Borland rejoined the band in 2005 for The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), but departed again. He rejoined the band in February 2009. Limp Bizkit is due to release Gold Cobra in 2011.
The following is a comprehensive discography of Limp Bizkit, an American nu metal band based in Jacksonville, Florida. Formed in 1995, the band has released five studio albums, one EP, two demo albums, one retrospective album, one remix album, one live album, twenty singles, fifteen music videos and two video albums. The band has sold an estimated 50 million albums worldwide.
Three Dollar Bill, Yall$ is the debut album by American nu metal band Limp Bizkit, released July 1, 1997 through Flip/Interscope. It was produced by Ross Robinson and was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA in July 2001 in the US. It features the singles "Counterfeit", "Sour" and "Faith". Many consider this album their magnum opus.
Three Dollar Bill, Yall$ was recorded in only six days (nine of the songs were done in three days). The album strongly reflects the influence of Hed PE; Fred Durst listened to the band's debut, Church of Realities, throughout the recording of Three Dollar Bill, Yall$. The work of Deftones and Esham also influenced the album's sound.
The album was mixed at Soundtrack Studio in New York City and mastered at Masterdisk in New York City. In the band's biography by Colin Devenish, it is said the album's title is consisted of "queer as a three dollar bill" and the down-home Florida slang "y'all".
Some copies of the disc have Intro mislabelled as Infest. Also, Intro had originally been the intro to the song Pollution as can be heard on the Pollution demo. The hidden track "Blind" is actually a remake of a song on Mental Aquaducts. The final track, "Everything" is simply a jam session that was recorded.
Significant Other is the second album by American nu metal band Limp Bizkit, released on June 22, 1999. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, selling 834,000 copies in its first week and received a Grammy Award nomination later in the year of its release. The RIAA certified it 7x platinum in September 2001 in the US alone, with total worldwide sales exceeding 14 million.
"N 2 Gether Now" features rapper Method Man, "Nobody Like You" contains guest vocals by Korn's Jonathan Davis and Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland, the demo for "Don't Go Off Wandering" contained guest vocals by System of a Down's Serj Tankian. It was later removed in the final album version after Fred Durst had a fallout with band Taproot, who shared the same management team (Velvet Hammer) as System of a Down (this controversy also led this band to be dropped off the Family Values Tour in 1999). However, this version of the song exists on the bootlegged version of Limp Bizkit's demo CD for this album, Significant Demos in Hell, and can be found on the internet. "No Sex" features guest chorus vocals by Staind frontman Aaron Lewis.
The majority of its songs are dedicated to the failure of the relationship between Fred Durst and his long-time girlfriend.
The song "9 Teen 90 Nine" was originally supposed to be a cover of the Prince song "1999". The song was recorded and played at many of Limp Bizkit's shows preceding the album's release. Prince refused to allow the band to put the song on the new album, causing Fred Durst to disparage Prince before playing the cover. A completely different song was created by the band with the same title, but has no similarities to the original source material.
The song "Show Me What You Got" was partially played on The Simpsons episode "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge".
The song "Nookie" was nominated in the Best Hard Rock Performance Category at the 42nd Grammy Awards ceremony, but lost to Metallica's "Whiskey In The Jar". The album was nominated in the category of "Best Rock Album" but lost to Santana's "Supernatural".
Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water is the third album by Limp Bizkit, released on October 15, 2000 through Interscope and Flip records. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 1.05 million copies in its first week, and was the 18th best-selling album of the 2000s in the US.
According to the RIAA website, the album has sold over 6 million copies in the United States alone as of 2008 and an overall 12 million worldwide. It features the singles "My Generation", "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)", "Take A Look Around", "Boiler", and "My Way".
The album features several high-profile guests, including Xzibit on "Getcha Groove On", Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland on "Hold On", and Redman, DMX and Method Man, including production by Swizz Beats on "Rollin' (Urban Assault Vehicle)", which is a remix of "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)". Actor Ben Stiller appears in the hidden track of "Outro".
The video for "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)" was directed by Fred Durst at the World Trade Center in late 2000. The video won the award for best rock video at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.
Results May Vary is the fourth album by Limp Bizkit, released on September 23, 2003 through Interscope Records. The album was certified Platinum on June 3, 2008 in the US, and Gold in the UK in October 2003. The album's first single, "Eat You Alive", gained significant airplay on modern and mainstream rock radio stations.
The second and last single, "Behind Blue Eyes", was also a moderate hit cracking the Billboard Hot 100 (peaking at number 71) and its subsequent music video receiving heavy rotation on MTV. Promotional singles were issued for "Red Light-Green Light", "Build a Bridge", and "Almost Over".
It has been rumored that Wes Borland, who had departed from the band two years before, listened to the album and stated it was "more of a Fred Durst solo record, and not a Limp Bizkit effort at all."
The song "Build A Bridge" was the theme song of WWE Survivor Series 2003. The B-side "Crack Addict" was used as the theme song for WWE's WrestleMania XIX. It was also released as a downloadable song for the Rock Band platform in December 2009.
The song "Red Light - Green Light" was used in a commercial for Snickers candy bars.
Limp Bizkit's cover of The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" was used as the theme of the film Gothika; the music video featured the film's star, Halle Berry.
The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) is the first album EP[6] by Limp Bizkit, released on May 2, 2005 internationally and a day later in North America. The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) was released without any advertising or promotion. It debuted at #24 on the Billboard 200.
The Unquestionable Truth marked the return of guitarist Wes Borland. Borland had been absent since the 2000 release of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water which was visible in the sales of 2003's Results May Vary.
Drummer John Otto was battling drug addiction, and only one song on the album, "The Channel", was written with him. For the other songs, hardcore punk drummer Sammy Siegler was hired to do the drumming work. Though Otto beat his addiction, and is now back in the band fulltime, this caused some tension between himself and the band, which is featured on the short documentary that comes with the album.
The lyrics of The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) are more serious in tone than previous Limp Bizkit albums. Allmusic described the album's music as being "a stab at neo-prog alt-metal". IGN said that it was strongly influenced by Rage Against the Machine. "The Truth" is the only song off the album to have been performed live.
Gold Cobra is the upcoming fifth studio album by American nu metal band Limp Bizkit, scheduled for release on June 28, 2011 by Interscope Records. It is the band's first studio album since 2005's The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), and the first from the original lineup since 2000's Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water.
The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), the band went on hiatus as vocalist Fred Durst began directing indie movies and former guitarist Wes Borland explored other music projects. In mid-2008 rumors and a myspace post by Durst began to indicate that Limp Bizkit were planning a reunion of some form and were replacing Wes Borland with Evanescence and Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo. On February 12, 2009, the band officially announced in a press release that they reunited for a world tour, some festivals, and a sixth studio album. The press release also announced that Wes Borland would be returning as the band's guitarist, dissolving the rumors of Terry Balsamo joining the band.
